What are your thoughts on Satanists?

I have to agree.
Anyone who looks to externals (Satan being an external) for 'power' and control over their lives has no idea what power really is and really means.
Sigh. I do miss Total Reflected Power... he would know what I mean.
Anyway, just my .02
You need to clear up your definitions.
Satanism: A philosophical movement which believes that each person is responsible for himself. One does not need external help to be successfull and reach happines. Bsically it's about self-empowerment.
Satan worshipping: A religion where people worship the antichrist/satan/Lucifer. Followers of this religion are know to be involved in ritual-sacrifices (anumals usually), orgies, desturction of religious sites etc.
Why is satanism then called satanism if it has nothing to do with Satan (as we know him from the Bible)? Basically, because satanism is in many ways opposite of the christian way of thinking. IN christianity they believe that you need outside help to be saved (you need Jesus). In satanism they believe that you only need yourself.
There's nothing at all wrong with satanism I can find several things in it that I agree with. But there's plenty of thing that are wrong in satan worshipping.

I don't mean to put you down on this, but do you have any kind of evidence or data to suggest that you know what Satanists want, and how they go about doing it? Do you know any? Are you intimately familiar with the meanings behind any rituals they might have?
In my eyes, the concept of Satanism is just as silly as the concept of worshipping God.

Exactly. Too many people out there go bashing on things that they know nothing about. Satanism is a classic example.
Colour me wierd, but I never spend even a second thinking about Satanists, other than, that is, the time and thought I put into this post.
I like the presents they bring on Dec 25, on their sleighs pulled by flying reindeer. Ol' Satan Claus is OK in my book!
But seriously, 99% of satanists are probably either goth posers trying to shock his/her parents, or middle-aged hippie dude/dudettes looking for an excuse to have orgies.

Satanism has nothing to do with orgies, goth, dressing in black or anything like that. Like I said, it's just a philosophical movement and a way of thinking. There are propably millions of people who think and act like satanists, but they just don't know that they are satanists.
Satan brings self corruption and sin. Satan is obviously tied to the bible and since they belive in Satan, then they have a glimpse of the aspect of the bible. Thus upon death they would be judged and sent to hell. Why would anyone want that if they can grab the full concept?

I am a Humanist and I believe everyone has the right to believe what they want.
That said, some people don't believe in the bible. People believe in different things. Here is something that will boggle your mind, but what if Satan is really what waits after you die? Does that mean all the people who believe in God believe in the wrong thing? Do those people go to purgatory?

If people obey the laws, then they are free to worship satan. But if they do ritual sacrifices (cruelty towards animals) and destroy christian places of worship (vandalism, destruction of property), then it's a no-no. If they don't do those thing, then sure, go right ahead. Other than that, I'm not saying that is satan worshipping good or bad. If it has illegal things attached to it, then it's definitely a bad thing. If it doesn't have those bad things in it, then it could be considered to be just another religion.
If you believe in ultimate good and evil (one cannot exist without the other), and you believe in Satan as portrayed in the Bible/Qur'an/Torah/whatever it is quite stupid to worship him. He wants to make humanity suffer, and ultimately wants to destroy it. Only reason someone might choose for Satan worshipping even then is if the person believes either Satan will win in the end, or that God abandoned humanity. Then it stands to reason to choose for the winning side, so you at least don't suffer as much as those who opposed him.
