I love a Reuben, but I don't love rye bread. A reuben, subbing sourdough, is an incredible creation (to me, at least). Or pumpernickel, to give a slightly sweet offset to all the acidity in that sandwich.

You know what? I'll eat any sandwich with corned beef in it.

Boars Head Pastrami + a good swiss chees + rye bread + hot deli mustard = win.

To the uninitiated and the 'meat and potato' crowd it's always about MEAT.
Well, hear me now and believe me later. Good quality meats and cheeses are important but, there aint no secret combination that will rock your boat. It's all about texture and your nose.

The secret to a great sandwich is vegetables. That's right marinated, grilled, pickled, slaw, you name it. Your favorite sandwich will be ten times better with the addition of veggies. I don't wanna hear no crap about 'they make my sandwich soggy,' buy some decent bread.

Da Chef has spoken!
So, let it be written. So, let it be done.

The *secret* to a great sandwich is quality ingredients. Even a plain bologna sandwich is *great* with the best quality bologna.

If you need extra garnish to make your sandwich great, i question your chef-ness.

Veggies aren't "extra" ingredients. You go right ahead and eat your bologna on Wonder Bread.

Everyone eats so, they think they're entitled to an opinion when it comes to food. Bah! You must be worthy of one of my sandwiches peasant. Now go away or , I will taunt you again.

You can add reading skills to your list of things to hang your head about. Try adding red onion rings, a couple of anchovy fillets and, some whole grain mustard to your sorry excuse for a sandwich. Bask in the glory of my sandwich acumen.

i will give you ++ for the red onion... --for anchovies (bleh..) and +for whole grain mustard.

but the sandwich is great without those. they just add to the greatness that is my sandwich.

Gastronomic coward! Sammy slacker! If I thought you were man enough, I'd have added grilled red pepper and Kalamata olives could be substituted for the anchovy, philistine!

coward?? bah!! i laugh at the suggestion.
ha ha ha ha ha :awe:

grilled red pepper are an ok addition... but the kalamata olives add a little too much salt along with the Prosciutto crudo and their taste can tend to overpower any dish if not used with a tempered hand.

Turkey and havardi!

Also from subway pepperoni/salami with pepper jack.

That's Havarti unless it comes from the same replicator as shudder pepper jack. I can see the sheen of soy oil on its plastic surface now. The misbegotten wilted blandness from "subway" should burn on the holy altar of the Great Zucchini himself.
