Rome:Total War (RTS/TBS) is the best game I've bought in the past 6 months; America's Army 2.3 (FPS) is the best game I've downloaded. An old school game that holds a special place in my heart would have to be Delta Force (1/2) (FPS). Hope that helps.

I personally think that Total Annihilation is such a game. And there's still a very active community making maps, units, and even whole mods for it.

I'll make two lists for you, one for games that hold a special place in my heart.. and another one of my favorite games of all time.. because they are two different lists.

Special Games to me (that most prob dont care about, nor would find fun these days)
1. Movie Monsters for Commodore 64
2. Knight Games for Commodore 64
3. Rampage (the 80s arcade game)
4. Golden Axe (80s arcade game)
5. All the old Sierra games (Kings Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory/Heros Quest)

My favorite games (this list constantly changes unlike the first)
1. HL2/CSS
2. All the PopCap games (check popcap.com, some small, exceptional games.. my favorites are Insaniqurium, Zuma and Bookworm)
3. Doom3 (sorry I just like this one.. it may be old school but I was a big fan of Wolfenstein 3D and the original Doom.. so I just like it)
4. Savage (a really cool game that is free now! heres the link http://home.ripway.com/2005-1/248022/Savage.html)
5. SWAT4/Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

Hope I helped ya out VIAN!

Assuming the games listed in your sig are already played, neverwinter nights and Morrowind come to mind. Both will run great on your system, fun RPGs. You might like Morrowind more.

Well, I'm mostly going for Action/Shooters after quake up until today, but I don't want to limit it too much to that category. You know there are exceptions sometimes. You can find the games I already have in my sig under Games. I've beaten all but 3 or so. I'm currently playing Alice.

In the process of buying from ebay: thief, thief II, and alien vs predator.

Thief III ruled. AVP2 although wasn't great, it was good enough for me to want to check out the first game.

If you want some light-hearted, but fun first-person shooters try Serious Sam First+Second Encounter and No One Lives Forever 1+2.

Fallout 1+2
Silent Storm
Silent Storm: Sentinels

While all the others entioned are good games in their own right, no other PC game comes to mind other then these four when you mention "special place in my heart" . . ..

I'm currently playing No One Lives Forever 2. It's fun FPS with sense of humor and female lead. I picked up my copy for like $9 and is well worth it IMO. Runs really well on older machines.

If you like video pinball, check out Pro Pinball series. Timeshock, Big Race USA, and Fantastic Journey are all great games and you can get the entire bundle for under $10. Whether you're casual or hardcore fan, these games are great when you're just trying to kill some time. These are older games so it pretty much run on any hardware but graphics are top notch as is the gameplay.

If you like sports, Winning Eleven 7 or 8 are excellent soccer games. Tiger Woods Golf 2004 is excellent also if you're into golf.

UNREAL II

Can't beleive nobody mentions this game. I and many I know think it is just amazing. Great levels, great stories, very cenimatic, fun weapons.

Unreal XMP is also a great multiplayer.

Seems Battlefield is similar, but I like the gameplay in XMP better. Since Atari dropped Legend and basically swept the game under the rug, you have to use GameSpy to find servers.
