Halo released on PC! That game had a great soundtrack. WoW had some tracks that were downright majestic. Skyrim was very good also. I'm sure there are about a million others that were fantastic.

I'd have to say that my favorite PC game music was 1994's Betrayal at Krondor, for 4 reasons:

1) It was the very first CD game with CD quality music that I ever played

2) It sticks in my mind, because it gave me well over 120 hours of gameplay
(& I never did finish it!)

3) Even though it is 20 years old, I still have the copy I bought at CompUSA
on the shelf right here. I still think about trying to get it to play on Windows
7 once in a while.....

4) After playing this game, I completely got hooked on the Riftwar books by Raymond
Feist that this game is based on. This was the first time that a game introduced
me to a well written book universe.

Crusader: No Remorse - Main Menu - Love this track from one of my favorite games.

Deus Ex - DuClare Chateau - A Deus Ex highlight for me.

Gabriel Knight - Bayou St. John - Always gave me goosebumps because of the creepiness of the swamps during this moment ingame.

Quake 2 - Decent Into Cerberon - Quake 2's soundtrack always got me pumped up, especially this track for the very 1st map.

Quarantine (Underground Lovers - Weak Will) - I grew up on late 80's / early 90's DOS games. Quarantine was my first experience of a CD game soundtrack. It featured real bands from Australia if I'm not mistaken. Can't wait for this game to hit GOG sometime..

Total Annihilation - Fire and Ice - Whole soundtrack is sublime for TA.

Snatcher - One Night in Neo Kobe City - Not a pc game, but one of my favorite tracks from this great game.

Final Fantasy VII and I love the standards in the newer Fallout games (though I don't think they released official OSTs)

forgot about Diablo II. I had the collector's edition that came with the OST on CD and the DVD of the cutscenes

This is why I love purchasing games through the Humble Bundle. Soundtracks in mp3 format are usually included. Darksiders is pretty epic.

Easily the best themed music to a video game I've ever played. And funky to boot!

I really love the Dark Souls and Hitman: Blood money soundtracks.

Starting off with Hitman. Jesper Kyd really got the whole ambience and overall sound design bang on, it changes depending on your actions and just makes for a killer atmosphere. The Latin lyrics and the variety in Symphony Orchestra is amazing.

Then comes Dark Souls, an amazing soundtrack fit for the epic boss fights and dark atmosphere.

Hotline Miami also gets your blood pumping.

The whole Half Life series, and pretty much any classic rock from 90's(Quake, Dooom etc..)

To many others to list so I will it at that.

I almost forgot about the kings field 2 soundtrack. Kings Field was a game that came out in the late 90s for playstation, it was made by From Software the same company that made Dark Souls and Demon Souls. Great game, dark souls and demon souls actually share some similarities with kings field.

And thanks for mentioning Dark Souls, I hadn't listened to that music since I played the game. Heres kings field 2 music:

1.) Anything by Jasper Kidd/Kyd/WTF he's going by now;
2.) Deus Ex soundtrack(s); even the HR/IW ones, fruity consoletard gameplay aside;
3.) Super Mario;
4.) The soundtrack I make in my head;
5.) Halo

My favorites are Quake 2, System Shock 2, Halflife, and Black Mesa. If you haven't checked out Black mesa OST do so, the music is incredible imo.

So I'm doing some web design tonight and I like to have music playing while I'm working and I'm curious as to what other good OSTs I'm missing out on.

Quake 2 definitely. I would add Quake, Doom, and Oblivion as well.
