I'm enjoying RE4 Remake more than I enjoyed the RE2 remake. I liked the gameplay of 2 but I didn't like being rushed or chased by Mr. X. I just want to explore a place at my own pace and RE games usually end up with a situation where if you miss something you can't go back to it until later which I don't like.

I have not played the third remake but I will at some point. I prefer the inventory management of RE4 Remake instead and again I'm not looking forward to being chased around by nemesis.

I'm kinda the same way, but I remember when I was a kid playing RE/3 and hearing the music change when Nemesis appeared was a totally new experience and sadly I don't think it would have the same effect on me now. My dad loves the older RE games so I might look into getting the older remakes for him when I pick up RE4.

I really disliked the Mr. X/Nemesis portion of RE 2 as well. Luckily though, it's only a fraction of the game.
But even still, I actually downloaded a mod that simply removes him from the game. I enjoyed it far more after that.

I actually am wishing I had gotten the Dead Space reamke instead of RE4. As a horror game...well...it's about as scary as Gears of War.

KInda weird reading gamers hating running away from a boss monster in a survival horror game. Maybe try a walking simulator or chess next time for a more relaxing experience? :p

It's only scary the first few times and after it just became annoying. I don't like feeling like I'm rushed when I'm playing a game that's supposed to have horror elements.

Skyrim update:

it seems that the black screen is tied directly to *something* in the Civil War.
There is only 1 fix, which is to update the game to

1.6.323.0.8

and then it works.

After running through the new Vampire Survivors DLC content, I think it's time to jump into Borderlands 3. Part of me wants it to be just as bad, if not worse, than Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, but if it's as good as BL2 then I fear it might be the only game I play the rest of the year. I think I sunk a solid 800 hours into BL2 when it was first released and after the DLC started hitting the game, I dropped another 1,000 with subsequent plays trying out different builds, finding all the secrets, and figuring out how to solo all the raid bosses.

Nah, it's just artificial. It also wasn't in the original RE 2 play through (it was some unlockable secondary playthrough addition), and really doesn't add anything besides feeling like a speedbump on your way to progressing the game.

One of the best survival horror games of all time, Alien: Isolation , was nothing but running away and outmaneuvering a basically invincible foe. But in the game, that WAS your game. That was THE villain. And one of the greatest in all science fiction at that. And the game was built around that dynamic. Same with Amnesia; you can't fight those enemies, you have to avoid them....but that's your whole game. That fits in that world. You're essentially helpless.

In RE2, Tyrant just feels tacked on as you wade through waves of other enemies and he thumps around endlessly after you. It doesn't ruin the game, but its far more enjoyable in its original iteration of not having that to deal with.

I have the ultimate edition, but just couldn't get into the same way say BL2, maybe it's just too much of of the same and the characters seems bland.

I've been sucked into Grim Dawn for my Diablo clone relaxing game.

I'm still playing Grim Dawn on the side as well. Almost finished with my Aether Phantasmal Blade Reaper and then I plan on starting a new poison/acid DoT Sentinel.

I've just started my first character, and haven't bought the expansions yet. So a pretty unoptimized warrior/shaman lvl 54 so far :p

I would highly recommend the expansions if they go on sale and if you enjoy the game. Grim Dawn is hands down one of the best single player ARPGs in the world and the expansions only add more to the game. You can skip the Crucible DLC (assuming it's still separate) as it's just an arena mode to help test your characters and get loot, but if you get both Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods, then the Crucible is pretty much only there if you want since FG has a mode inside it that offers 10X more loot than Crucible ever gave. Even with my offline hours not counting, I'm still pushing over 800 hours for Grim Dawn on Steam and I'm still making new characters to this day.

If you plan on getting the expansions, just know that Forgotten Gods requires Ashes of Malmouth in order to work but they go on sale all the time. With all the expansions added, there's almost 7,000 items in the game but in the base game I think there's only a little over 4,000 so along with the two new classes, that should give you an idea as to how much content comes with them.

Does the main quest just suddenly stop after act 4 when you don't have any expansion packs? No final cutscene or anything? I can't find any more quests, but I finally discovered the bounty boards. :p

Yep. After you kill the Loghorrean, you unlock the next difficulty. There's only two cutscenes in the game and the second one comes with Ashes of Malmouth and starts immediately when you speak with Inquisitor Creed after you kill the Loghorrean.

So lvl 54 is a normal level at that point?

Lawd Jebus still playing Witcher 3 and Hogwarts. I dunno what I was thinking firing up two open world games at the same time with my sort of playtime constraints.

W3: Almost done with Skellige I think.

HWL: Right before the the Bakar guys trial.

God Yakuza Like a Dragon kills me. If one of your characters does the Night Queen (aka dominatrix) job she heals people by this move:

And someone with the clerk job can heal herself by using a magic wand to massage herself ROFL

I am playing Wartales right now:

Its like a cheaper version of mount and blade i feel.
Maybe with some other RTS aspects to it.
Has a little bit of Kenshin in it too, but you can't build bases.
Or at the very least i have no found a way to build a remote base from scratch like you can do on kenshin.

Overall, im glad i got it on sale.
I don't think its worth full price.

Welp.

Finally finished Elden Ring. Level 149. 122 Hours.

And had a total blast. Probably the game of the last couple of years for me. I won't go on a long winded review because most folks have already played it and formed an opinion, and those that haven't yet are likely not terribly interested, but suffice it to say the Souls-like storytelling and "plot progression" don't diminish the fantastic world and atmosphere this game creates. I must've sunk literally dozens of hours (probably close to 50) "just running that way" to see what was around the next bend, with no idea what my actual objectives or goals were yet. That's when you know a game has you; when you just want to play it to discover stuff, to see what could possibly be next. I had to go back and Google what I was supposed to be doing after 60-70 hours of just outright exploring and fighting and dying. Lots of dying.

For now though, I'm well and truly done with it. Nothing but respect to those of you who've beaten in multiple times, that's quite an accomplishment. And I may goof around with it again here and there, but the true allure for me is just exploring this massive, exotic world, and once I've done that I feel complete.

Elden Ring is awesome, no doubt about it. When you do come back to it I guarantee you still have MANY things you haven't seen yet unless you followed a guide through the whole way. Did you:

Find the ulcerated tree spirit in Stormveil Castle?
Collect all nine deathroots?
Complete all six endings?
Kill all of the deathbirds, death right birds and night's cavalry?
Find the way to the Haligtree and defeat Malenia?
Save Fia while still completing her quest?

Elden Ring is packed full of amazingness. I can't wait for the DLC!

Thanks for sharing.

I haven't finished it yet. I just beat Miquella blade dude and my home-base is all lit up in fire. So I guess it's over soon.

This was my first souls game too. I had an incredibly hard time getting used to using controller for the first time + managing Souls difficulty.

-I spent 40 hours with Vagabond just to get to level 20 and quit.
-Then I picked an easier mage route with Glintstone pebbles and Comet. I enjoyed this aspect of gameplay. Then I got sick of it and quit around level 90.
-I know you can respec, but to me, the fun is growing from level 1 and becoming a powerful class altogether.
-I restarted for the third time as that naked dude at level 1. Man, by this time, I was just circling around everyone and having a blast. I built him into a heaviest armor / weapon archtype. That's where I am now with level 130~. It's been a blast.

I spent so much time looking up lore on youtube. I think I get it. But by now I just don't care anymore. Hewg and that summon girls can really tug on your heart strings.
