thank you live by the rules and die by the rules like a total douche. that forum is pretty much dead. just checking out the vibe here in general real estate.

oh btw my labrador pit mix is going to love chillin with me listening to choons.

Good for you.

Not really sure what you mean live by the rules die by the rules.

I guess the vibe I'm getting is you have a pit bull and like calling people total douches so far from what I gather.

Have a nice day.

Not an audiophile, but I do have a beyerdynamic mmx300 headset, though I need to send it in for repair since one of the kids tripped on the cable and ripped it out. D:

They're very good, I only paid ~$230 for mine new in box back when they were still being produced.

If you have a bit of $ to spend you can get the AH-D5000 which is now being produced as the Fostex TH-600. They don't have the wooden cups, but they are the same drivers as the D5000. (the TH-900 is the D7000).

My dad was an audiophile. I could never understand the magazines. I expected to see graphs with frequency responses and such in the reviews but they always read more like wine taster's notes. He left me a Cyrus 6 amp and PMC TB2 speakers. We run our TV through them.

Also had some Sennheiser HD800's but they were too head-crushy and I preferred the sound from my PX100's. I am not an audiophile.

Most of my listening is at work now, LG V10 to Astell and Kearn universal version of the JH Audio Angie. I've been meaning to get ear impressions made so I can get the JH-16s I bought remolded and then decide if they sound good enough to ditch the universals. I also want to find someone to give my frankenstein W5000s some love (needs a recable and some new earcups). I want to get them in better shape and then send them off to Tyll to measure and see how well they do.

For home theater I just have some Polk R15s powered by a Harmon Kardon receiver/Blu-ray player I got for $100. That or a Titanium HD and Swan M200s.

Well, most of my listening is on my desktop/gaming PC, which I just use a decent set of headphones (Mr Speaker Alpha Dogs).

In one room, I have a 5.1 set up with Aperion Verus Grand speakers (LRC and surrounds) with a Hsu VTF-15H sub. When I shut all of the doors and seal the room up, it can crank pretty loud (Master and Commander is amazing) but it also plays very nicely at lower volumes. This is where I listen when I'm alone in the house and can do pretty much what I want without being messed with. A denon x3000 drives things. When I'm in full on hipster mode, I listen to LPs on a project debut. But I mostly stream flacs from a home media server.

But in our great room (where we hang out most of the time), I have a 3.2 set up. LCRs are Hsu HB-1 bookshelf speaks, coupled with two Tuba 18 folded horn subs I built (super fun to build, even for someone with next to woodworking tools or skills, such as myself). The setup is driven by a Denon 1713 and for the most part, music listening is through a chromecast audio.

DIY full-range speakers at the moment, hopefully diysoundgroup.com speakers by summer time. Vintage Pioneer TT and Pass Pearl phono or PC to Grace m9XX DAC to various preamps and amps. Headphones are Shure SE535, Audio Technica ADH-AD700, Sennheiser HD 600.

I been rocking these I stole off ebay for $54...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVWvDgUgZks

The guy sadly in the review forgot to mention that you can change the sound, including the bass, by holding the volume up and down together and change the eq on them, making it sound the way YOU want them to sound. Also, they have 8 speakers in them, 4 on each side, and have Physical position surround sound technology in them.....

which ones you gonna guild yoda?

Not sure, depends on where I think I'll be by the end of the year. Ideally the Maximus or the 1299.

I'll always have a soft spot for Dynaudio but it'll be a long time (if ever) before I go back to a retail product. I still have a Velodyne (maybe I like the letters "dyn"?) DD-12 from over a decade ago that's sat in the box for a few years...keep debating selling it.

Spotify on MacMini > Monsoon MH 500 speakers. This is my office setup and was surprised the speakers still work. I bought them w/ a Dell laptop in 2003ish and have survived 2 years in a dorm, a 10 person house, a "normal" senior year apartment, 2 post college apartments, & 3 house moves. Seesh.
