What the hell...I might as well jump on the bandwagon!
3040 3DMarks
Stock 3Dmark2001 settings as they come "out of the box"
GF2GTS (32mb DDR)
1100 TBird (1000 running 10.5 x 105)
256mb 133Cas2 memory @ 140MHz
I couldn't run the "nature scene" demo either. The Matrix Lobby scene looked awesome, even at only about 30 FPS. Seeing the ammo brass bouncing around was great!
My pc seems to go to the swapfile on the HD between most of the tests...it's never done that before. Yes, Windows is managing my vm swapfile...I've not been convinced to set it otherwise...this might change my mind.
It's kind of weird; I'm so used to 3DMark2000, particularly the "Adventure Game" tests on "low detail. I'd see the FPS hovering around the 210-220FPS mark, now I see 70FPS.
I also agree that the music in the 2000 demo was much better than the music in the 2001 demo. It is nice to have some rockin' tunes to go along with the demo. Especially when demonstrating your pc's capabilities to "non-techies"...like my girlfriend for instance. ....and I quote HER: Oooh! Look at all the pretty colors! Look! A bat! ME: Honey, that's a DRAGON, not a bat. Just like in a movie, the music carries you thru and sets the mood for a scene. Better tunage would only enhance what already is a great product.
3DMark2001, so far, rates an 8 out of 10. MHO>
