and they'll sell 25M units in the current quarter if Foxconn makes them. Geek rage here is overblown.

Honest question, why do so many in this thread want a sub-Retina screen? (for programming reasons, they won't bump resolution)

Because some of us don't want to stare at a tiny screen?

They need better development guidelines if it dictates their resolution, android apps have no problem scaling to different resolutions.

because I'd rather have 4.3" of glory vs. 3.5" of glory?

Is HSDPA the same as HSPA+? I thought HSDPA was what T-Mobile was using.

I think I had mentioned this awhile back, and we figured that up to a 3.7" or 3.8" would still be considered under Apple's concept of a Retina display. I do agree though... it's already hard enough to get developers to release universal apps... give them 4 resolutions to program to... 😱.

Its not going to be geek rage. Market Analysts are going to be disappointed.

They will sell a lot. I bet they sell a lot more 3GS's if the rumor is true that its going free on contract.

11:07 am "I don't know what Droid Bionic customers have to do between taking pictures... like, go get coffee."
11:07 am "The new iPhone 4S takes just 1.1 seconds to the first photo. And just half a second for the next shot."

So is the a touch a repacked 4th gen in a different color and os5 preinstalled? I wonder if it still has the horrid camera

2:12PM You can do it wired or wireless.

2:12PM AirPlay Mirroring is now happening, meaning you can get your gaming on the big(ger) screen.

I agree, 3.8" is about the upper limit in the current form factor and without neutering market-leading ppi. None of the market research surveys I've seen recently has mentioned a 4+" screen as a popular "customer want". Considering device-independent resolution hasn't made it to the desktop after years of opportunity, it isn't coming to iOS soon.

Honestly, I'm not questioning what you or the other guys here want. The new 4S will sell well to the masses if it's not a dud. Don't know how long the 3GS stays around, but the 8GB iPhone 4 should do well going forward. I'd expect $99 subsidized/$499 unsub.

in all likelihood it'll be SGS2 for myself and iPhone4s for the GF. it's plenty good enough for her, and she'll LOVE that camera.

but fuck, iCloud + iMessage sounds mighty tempting.

is it back yet?

I lost both feeds on thisismynext && arstechnica.

engadget for backup.

hm. this geofencing shit is pretty cool.

11:22 am The tech is pretty amazing — Siri will follow along with your actions and understand context. Still, Scott has to talk to the machine slowly, like you would to a child or a foreign language speaker.

dealbreaker.

Unless iPhone5 is announced shortly, I think apple just lost a lot of Android Converters to iOS.

2 most happiest companies so far:
1) Google
2) Samsung

I'm assuming it talks, so I wonder if they'll ever have voice packs available for it. An Alfred voice could be kind of amusing, "Your humble assistant, Mr. Wayne."

the possibilities would be endless! (it does talk, GPS voice)
