Nothing. I cannot guarantee my employer will keep me employed next year. They are making terrible business decisions that has 5/6 of the company wondering if they'll be surplussed (ahem, workforce calibrated) as they we are no longer of a telecommunications company but a content company (according to the CEO). And that means ~240K employees are no working in content and will be on the chopping block. Enjoy your cell phone service while it lasts.

Which is this cell service company that I should avoid? AT&T?

Maybe a month's supply of soylent & protein powder. My January work schedule is packed to the gills, I might just say screw it & live off liquid nutrition for a month just for kicks. 100% nutrition with zero effort lol.

3 bottles a day with 2 scoops of protein powder each just about hits my macros perfectly. Works out to about $500 shipped from Amazon. Eek!

Nothing. I guess I already got myself an early Christmas present a few months ago.
I'm in the same boat. I bouught new speakers, and processor for my home theater back in September. I'm not done upgrading it, but don't see getting anything else until after Xmas.

Welcome to the BSOA club, it's a beast! Bread proof, air fryer, dehydrator, toaster, toaster oven, oven, convection oven, phase cooking, you name it!

I bumped my rig up to 16GB of RAM and got an RX580 to put in it, I suppose that counts.

Thanks. You're right, the thing is a beast. It's bigger than my microwave. I live alone and using a regular oven just isn't smart. Plus my kitchen gets way too hot in the summer since my in window air conditioner is 25 feet away and around a corner.

I've been eating plant based since Jan. and I'm hoping to eliminate the amount of oil I use. Looking forward to fries, sweet potato fries, baked potatoes, buffalo cauliflower wings, veggie burgers, roasted veggies, healthy snacks, etc.

Do you like Chinese food? You can make orange chicken, but with tofu, in the BSOA:

https://www.veggiessavetheday.com/air-fryer-orange-tofu/

Basically you coat the tofu chunks in soy sauce & then cornstarch, then air-fry them, which gets them crispy. You can use other starches & sauces as well, for a similar effect.

Ehh, I just buy what I need whenever.

For the Solstice, I am planning to buy 2 of my cousins some decent new winter boots. My aunt lost her job a few months ago, and it took a while for her to find new work. One cousin is almost done with university, and will be starting an internship next summer. Other cousin is a senior in high school and will be joining the work force full time doing labor or handyman type jobs. Both of them are in desperate need of durable winter boots.

I'm hoping I can find something similar to the Timberland boots that I got 20 years ago. Have worn them every winter since 1998 and they are scuffed, but otherwise hold up great. They have fantastic ice traction, are waterproof, and with a decent pair of wool socks, will keep my feet warm no matter how cold or wet it is outside. Used them snowmobiling, hiking around frozen lakes, shoveling, or just monkeying around in the snow for countless hours.

I worry that they might have shipped production to China or Bangladesh and lost some of the quality. Not sure who is around that makes boots like that any more. If I don't like the timberlands that I see, or, if it's gonna cost me more than about $300 for 2 pairs at the brick and mortar shore, then I will just buy online and get them both some Caterpillar or Timberland Pro boots online.

Picked up a Surface Pro on Black Friday after a long time of debate on what to get. I've wanted a new laptop, one that could handle development work better than the cheap old one I have. And I wanted something LIGHTER to carry. Of course it shipped out in less than 12 hours but keeps getting delayed in delivery, starting from yesterday, then Monday, now Tuesday. Fuckers.

I also want a new desk chair cause the cheap leather (I'm guessing PU leather) on my current one is breaking up. I'll put my head back on it and get little black flakes in my hair sometimes lol. So I'll probably get a new one soon. Looked at a bunch and had more or less settled on the Clutch Crank series but now see that Amazon has a brand just like it, iWill or something like that, for quite a bit less and the reviews are good so I'll prob just go with that I guess. Bah, I don't feel like I've been real impressed with any of the chairs I've seen so that's why I haven't gotten anything yet.

Might want to consider some Yaktrax:

https://yaktrax.implus.com/

They strap on whatever shoes you've got in about a five seconds. Kind of like a bungee cord with metal coils for grip on ice. Amazon sells them in various designs. Absolutely love mine!

Those might be a nice addon simply for the extra traction in the winter, but, they are planning to work outdoors jobs, so, I want to make sure it's something that will protect their feet from the elements.

Hard to go wrong with genuine military. They're made for winning. I wasn't impressed with the last pair of Timberland I got. They wore out *fast*, and weren't put together well.

Of course a tv that costs twice as much will be better. That goes for a $800 vs $400 tv as surely as it would a $1600 vs a $800 one. :p
That $400 TV looks like an incredible deal, That's pretty close to the going rate for entry level 55 inch 4k Tvs, and 65 inch is of course 40% bigger.

Our 50 inch Visio in the living room is a piece of crap, randomly turns itself off, and you need to unplug it for like an hour or so in order to turn it back on. Otherwise, the LED Power indicator turns on, but, the screen is off.

I am tempted by a 55 inch TCL as an affordable replacement/upgrade.

I do like Chinese but I never tried orange chicken. I may have to give that a try. I went grocery shopping today and I think I have enough to make this recipe work. Also picked up a bunch of herbs and spices to make coated fries.
