Ehh, I just buy what I need whenever.
For the Solstice, I am planning to buy 2 of my cousins some decent new winter boots. My aunt lost her job a few months ago, and it took a while for her to find new work. One cousin is almost done with university, and will be starting an internship next summer. Other cousin is a senior in high school and will be joining the work force full time doing labor or handyman type jobs. Both of them are in desperate need of durable winter boots.
I'm hoping I can find something similar to the Timberland boots that I got 20 years ago. Have worn them every winter since 1998 and they are scuffed, but otherwise hold up great. They have fantastic ice traction, are waterproof, and with a decent pair of wool socks, will keep my feet warm no matter how cold or wet it is outside. Used them snowmobiling, hiking around frozen lakes, shoveling, or just monkeying around in the snow for countless hours.
I worry that they might have shipped production to China or Bangladesh and lost some of the quality. Not sure who is around that makes boots like that any more. If I don't like the timberlands that I see, or, if it's gonna cost me more than about $300 for 2 pairs at the brick and mortar shore, then I will just buy online and get them both some Caterpillar or Timberland Pro boots online.
