What are the views of San Francisco Reparations.

I have been seeing this discussed in several news venues and was wondering what the forums thoughts are on this recommendation of the AARAC.

I personally find it to be way overreaching considering San Francisco's annual budget is way less than the 560 billion estimated expense of the reparations. California was also a free state and always has been. In my opinion this is just more virtue signalling on their part and nothing is going to come out of it.

AARAC calls for one-time, lump-sum reparations payments of $5 million to each eligible recipient. The amount could cover the “the economic and opportunity losses that Black San Franciscans have endured, collectively, as the result of both intentional decisions and unintended harms perpetuated by City policy,” the draft states.

To qualify for the payments, residents must be 18 at the time the committee’s proposal is enacted, and have identified as Black or African American on public documents for at least 10 years. They may also have to prove they were born in the city between 1940 and 1996, have resided in San Francisco for at least 13 years, and be someone, or the direct descendant of someone, incarcerated during the war on drugs.

Overreaching in the $ amount or overreaching in its consideration period?

I think the whole thing is a huge overreach and will be impossible to implement. This is just something to make or entice black people to continue supporting politicians in power.

1. They don't have the money. Five Million + All Debt Forgiveness.
2. It is going to be impossible to adequately identify fairly those that should get anything.

The consideration period don't mean much as they don't have the money anyway.

I think that, like with banning gas stoves, it's something that a lot of people will get all worked up about.. but will never happen.
There are several cities in the SF bay area that have banned gas in all new construction.
As far as reparations, the people of that city elected the lawmakers so it's their issue.

Am I correct in assuming you are opposed to any kind on repetitions for black people? SF not withstanding? How about Tulsa OK? Do you know what happened there?

I am opposed to any kind of reparations.
Widespread funding of Basic Income and other necessary programs would benefit the poorest among us the most. If that happens to be black people, I am fine with them seeing a greater share as befits their situation. But our policy should be less targeted and more broad in order to achieve that. When the solutions are inclusive, they garner more support and help more people.

Seems like the easy solution is to not live in any of those cities if you don't like it.

Reparations is a bad idea. Giving people money won't erase the problems of the past. That can only happen when problems like systemic racism and lack of equal opportunity have been resolved.

I believe minority races have been fucked by white feelings of inferiority mostly caused by contempt of natural sexual urges condemned by the mentally ill nature of a lot of Christian add on teachings. I think over time many White people have come to see that their ancestors and many of their contemporaries were and are mentally ill as described and would like to make up for it. Part of that, in my opinion, is to simply forget about what race a person is. There is only one race, the human race whose skin color has to do with the geographical location of humans who migrated out of Africa and lost the ability to protect themselves from skin cancer in favor of vitamin D production.

We all bleed red and with respect to empathy we can all be type O doners.
