This might be one of the stupidist ideas they’ve ever had! A Republican in Montana has introduced a bill to ban teaching scientific theories in school, requiring schools to only teach “scientific facts”

As used in this section, “scientific fact” means an indisputable and repeatable observation of a natural phenomenon

So, you could, say, measure the temperature, pressure, and volume of a gas at different temperatures, but don’t you dare go trying to relate ANY of that to the Ideal Gas Law! That shit's just a theory!

He tried to back peddle on this once the problems were pointed out, but that doesn’t change the fact that he clearly doesn’t understand anything about how science actually works.

Good old fashioned satanic panics really are back.
I'm going to play my iron maiden record backwards and really fucking show these guys what Satan's all about! Now you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around, that's what it's all about!!

Oddly enough, the Hokey Pokey is genuinely blasphemous. 🙂

Well, there goes the theory of relativity

oh man, that would be perfect. some dumbass conservative trying to ban the ideal gas law because they think it means some gasses are better than others.

i'm sure given enough time, someone will make the attempt. we could speed up the process by getting MTG involved I'm sure.

The Tennessee House has passed a bill allowing clerks to refuse marriage licenses to same sex, interracial or interfaith couples.

Performance art. Typical of state legislatures during new sessions. Doubtful if the Tennessee Senate even takes up the bill (I still have hope for sanity). But ... Just that it reared it's ugly head is mind boggling.

I'm wondering though what the state would do if a clerk refused to issue a marriage license to a white hetero couple because it was against their religion.

Wow! But...but... I thought Republicans were not homophobic or racist? #bothsides?

Floods department with tree hugging liberals. No rednecks getting their licenses now!!!

JFC. They DO want 1950 back.

So when is this divorce of the red states that MTG wants? Can we get that shit rolling, please?

Fuck these people and their backwards, bigoted asses. Let them fuck and marry their 12 year old cousins in their own shithole country and stop dragging the rest of us back to the dark ages.
They are just religious. They can't help it that their god is a racist homophobe!
That's just their justification for all the shitty things they do or want to do. "Because my religion." It's all bullshit, of course. Even the Pope feels differently, and says as much. They're just trash and like others for thousands of years, use God as justification for their own shitty behavior.

Edit for one last comment:
Why give this control and authority to...clerks? Nobody else in an elected government position has the right or ability to impose this kind of control and restrictions on certain groups of people, especially not because of their own personal and religious biases. Under the guise of religious freedom, they're oppressing these groups that they "don't approve of".

JFC, I hate these clowns.

Yes, that is the joke. They choose to believe in that god. They choose to interpret the Bible in that way. Many others who do not, so it is a reflection of their beliefs.

Yep, belief in a god or gods is completely optional. This idea that a religious belief compels people to take certain actions is nonsense. People do the things they do because they want to. Throwing a god into the mix is an attempt to deflect responsibility for their own odious conduct.

In Missouri, there was a plan to remove the sales tax on food, but the Missouri GOP thinks that is too expensive, so instead they’re going to remove the sales tax on guns and ammunition made in Missouri.

I guess they’re just being efficient. Increasing the ease of purchasing guns and ammo should alleviate the need for food.

“Fill a man with food you feed him for a day, fill a man with lead and you feed him for the rest of his life.”

Fucking backwards ass red states. Now I know why I would never move to one.

Republicans don't have a clue how much of a break they could give to poor people by removing tax on food.

I've lived in blue states all my life and food has never been taxed.

Never change Pubs, always looking forward.

Architects who trade in newfangled design-school fads should brace for a cold winter: Under the proposed Beautifying Federal Civic Architecture Act, introduced in the Senate by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and in the House by Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), blueprints “derived from the forms, principles, and architecture of Greek and Roman antiquity” would have the government’s official favor.

I would argue that the birthplace of Western Civilization has nothing to do with the birthplace of the United States of America in a narrowly defined sense that we as a nation are exclusively made up of immigrants of whom largely displaced the native inhabitants through subjugating them into obscurity. The birthplace of a relatively speaking modern worldly "American Civilization" is therefore uniquely disparate from that of Greek and Roman antiquity and our "forms, principles and architecture" should reflect the cultural diversity that we as a nation are made up of.

Being as shitty as possible for two things.

To fuck everyone over but the rich and big business.

To impose a white Christian nationalism
