$800 for a 17" Sony VAIO Triniton monitor with built-in speakers and subwoofer back in 1998. It was obscenely overpriced... but SO totally cool for it's time :)

$333 for my 19" Hyundai L90D+ LCD in 2005. 5:4 aspect ratio.

Nothing else comes close.
I try to stay around the $100 price point for my components.

£220 for a Geforce 4 TI4400, not sure what it equated to in dollars at the time, probably around $350.

I spent ~$800 on my first hard drive, a 10 MB, if I recall. Within 6 months there were 20s and 40s on the market and the value of mine plummeted. I learned then never to buy the bleeding edge.

Same for me, except I paid $812 shipped for it in March of 2006 when I heard the 2007's were faulty.

$650 for a GeForce 8800GTX on launch day. Stupid piece of shit was busted right out of the box and malfunctioned for over a year until I finally replaced it with a quality ATi part. Never thought I'd ever utter that last phrase.

Honestly, I but almost all my parts used on the forum. That being said I bought an E8400 when they came out for $200.

~ $425 on my Viewsonic VX2025wm in 2006
~ $230 on my Asus A8R32-MVP deluxe in 2006
~ $400 on my X1900XT in 2006
~ $160 for 2x1GB g.skill DDR-400 in 2006

And to think I got a HD4870 that kicks that X1900XT around for less than half in 2008 and got 2x2GB DDR2-800 G.Skill PI for $50 this year.
That LCD was a great purchase though, I still use it.

~$400-500 on a 1.2 GB external SCSI hard drive around '95
~$400 on a refurb 17" Dell LCD in 2003

Generally I stick with midrange parts. I buy bargain monitors, because I couldn't tell the difference anyway. I shoot for < $100 motherboards and < $150 processors. ~$50 video cards.
