What are the best speakers for me?

Finally getting sick of my cheapo $15 antecs.

I think sound is very subjective, so I'm going to tell you what I'm looking for.

-Good balance between base and treble. My antecs had a ridicously low treble and high base, you can hear explosions, but you can't here what people are saying

-Microphone jack, its necessary sometimes to make less noise and it helps in counter-strike

-Clear sound. I'm not going to turn it all the way up, so I don't give a crap about how good it is when its can blow off my ear drums.

-$100 or less, I notice a lot of you like recommending elite items like Klipsch in this case, I can't afford it mind you

I'm a gamer and I listen to mp3s. That's it. No dvds or anything like that. So all I want is sound clarity and surround sound support for games.

How are the logitech z560s? They're a little expensive, but if I get them, I don't think I'll get tired of it for a long long time. I'm afraid the base might be too high. My best buy doesn't have any displays and compusa doesn't have any working displays, nor are they willing to set any up.. bastards...

Any other recommendations? I'm not a very picky guy and I don't feel the need to spend a few hundred on speakers. So please do not recommend the 500 dollar Klipsch promedia 5.1

btw - you think the z560s are worth double the price of the z540s? There is a big price difference, but I don't know how different the quality is.

How are the logitech z560s

They're awesome. Definately a quality set of speakers. I havn't noticed the treble/bass being out of whack either. You can always easily adjust the bass/treble anyways if you feel something isn't right.

don't care if its a small thing

but these antecs, there is no treble or bass button, plus, I set the treble all the way up in settings and base all the way down and still too strong

very bad soudn quality too, only good for sounds in games

they z560s are good. don't go dissing my promedia 5.1s though. they're quality. anyways, if you just want a 2.1 then look at altec lansing. they have quality 2.1 speakers. even some higher 4.1s and 5.1s. but i like them for 2.1, the logitech z560s for 4.1 and klipsch for 5.1. but you really need to get a hold of them yourself and test them to find out what's best for you. ultimately it's your decision.

Everybody knows the Logitech and Klips are high end computer speakers, but the best bang for the buck has got to be the creative labs inspire 5.1. Awesome range of highs and lows, powerful bass and clear treble. I got mine at best buy for 89.99 minus $20 rebate, so 69.99 isn't too bad for some high quality speakers 5.1 surround sound. You can hear the critters creeping up behind you in counterstrike!

all the best.

In my opinion, you cannot beat the logitech z-340's for quality price. they are only a 2.1, but cost only $30-40. They sound awesome, have good bass, and a very clear sounding. I bought a set of these for my fiance and the z-560's for myself (I was not being rude, she only listens to mp3's and I play games/dvd's/divx/etc.. 🙂 ) Anyway, her speakers sound almost better than mine on highs but still have the bass to back it up (if you turn the bass up) Those would be my reccomendations, though I have not really heard any bad about the creative 4.1 and 5.1 setups either, so take a look at those as well. Hope that helps

recently i been seeing deals for atp3's at like $25. that would be a good deal if u can get in on it.

I have Creative 5300 Inspire speakers at the moment, they cost me under half the price of Logitech z560 speakers which are only 4.1 speakers(I wanted 5.1),and they are excellent value for money, sound quality is excellent for the price, they don`t go super loud like other speakers but run them in for a week and tune the bass knob on the woofer and they sound good(don`t judge them out of the box,the sound opens up after you use them awhile).

The main reason I went with them is I wanted something to tide me over until I`ve the funds for my Yamha AV 5.1 receiver with 5.1 HI-Fi speakers so spending more money on expensive Logitech/Klipsch seemed pointless, especially since any good HI-FI AV system down the road will sound better then any PC based system.

Getting back on topic,I know other people that own the Creative 5300 and they are pleased with them, they are made (taking their price into account)more towards sound quality then loudness or bass power ,btw they are not made by Creative but Cambridge Audio.

I now have two games that support 5.1 sound,Morrowind and NeverWinter Nights so my 5.1 gaming list is slowly getting bigger ,anyway they will suffice until I upgrade down the road.
I think they are about $80 in the US.
