Oh yes, everyone else should drop what they're doing because you forgot your password. Again.

Or after you let it expire after the system prompted you half a dozen times.

Well you are the idiots that implemented expiring passwords.
No, the idiots are the ones that can't understand WHY we implement passwords that expire.

Because you are to incompetent to detect when the password file is compromised.

Wow, you are dense. Password changing is implemented so if by chance someone was say looking over your shoulder and got your password they wont have it for long before its changed, this protects you. There is no technical solution for knowing that your password has been breached in meat space

But yea there is, it's called technology..use it! /non IT person

Not sure if these are universal ones, but all the people I support seem to think these are true:

-That IT guys really enjoy their jobs
-That IT guys are well paid

I swear whenever I'm making small talk with users and some money related subject comes up, I always get "I'm sure you IT guys don't have that problem with what you make." I have no idea where they get that idea.

A few I get all the time:
Since I work with computers, I'm also automatically a wizard when it comes to fixing cell phones, stereos, TV's, etc etc.
Since I work with computers, I also love Star Trek(I fucking hate ST).
Since I work with computers, I'm both perfectly able and willing to h4xx0r into xyz website you don't like and screw it up, just as a favour to you.

Yep, and we don't give it to them for their own workstations. We do give them VMs though so they can do whatever they want with those.

Setting up password expiration intervals give less of a chance for a system to be compromised in the first place genius. And if you keep b!tching, I'll set your password to expire everyday. Now go back to work and STFU.

*thunderous applause*

most "IT" people are not even 'technical' , let alone nerds or geeks

a whole bunch of "normal" people decided to get into "IT" for the money, so they become project managers and do email/meetings/powerpoints/visios all day and don't do the actual "IT" work at all, they have to get the helpdesk guys to show them how to zip or unzip files so they don't bloat out their mail box

Bah, I'm a bit more advanced, I'll use Trillian and uTorrent :p. I wish I could use meebo but that's filtered out... but it seems their filter is susceptible to redirects as I used to go to this website that was fine, passed the filter and everything. They changed their URL and now I cannot access it from that url; however, the old URL redirects to the new one and I wasn't restricted by the filter. I'm curious if I use tinyurl to create a meebo redirect... will it work?

Nah... just about 90% of them are. We need the occasional woman on the team for eye candy and diversity hire status :)

I think the guys spouting off small penis must have actually had their g/f's stolen by an IT guy.

I find some of the stereotypes are true, but it's pretty rare, at least in my experience as most of the IT people I know are pretty socially active.

Some of the ones I get:
- IT guys have the easiest job in the universe.
- We make a lot of money.
- Have social skills of a fly.

Too bad I hopefully won't be doing this too much longer. I got my fill of IT, I'm going to law school now.

Aye, it's true. Had an IT person, who ma actually be a developer, ask where a certain standard piece of software's icon went. Took me 2 seconds to make the shortcut from the "start" menu. Oh, and I have a sibling who is a developer who is completely clueless on basic hardware/software compatibility and components.

Blasphemy! All IT guys know everything, you can't destroy the ones we mock and worship at the same time!

even things that don't. 'you're technical, can you fix this please?'
