I use ADS 12" subs in my F350 and infinity in my lincoln...The guy who installed them assured me I could have saved a bundle with some cheap MA Audio 2 x 12 for $100.
Sound the same? Ha. Please refrain from offering any more advice on the subject.

Yes, as a sound engineer i say you need to be trown off a cliff.

Erm. You can pack TONS of 10" subs in your car. But if you do, how will you ever be able to eat them all?

Should be pretty happy with 400 watts RMS in a fairly small box.

Okay, I've narrowed it down between JL and the 10D4 Shiva. Comments?

I'll put my vote in for JL too. I have two JL 12W6's in a sealed box. They sound great

The JL 10w3v2 would need a slightly bigger box than the 10D4... the JL 10w6v2 would need roughly the same size box and would be a bit cleaner... but in general they're going to be pretty similar, and all will suond pretty good for a 10.

no he just wants the quickest, and best punch from a sub :D

cuz we all know that 10" subs are quicker, thus sound better than larger subs!!!!

If you are not going for loud, then why are you getting 2? Get a jl audio 8w7. It's very accurate musically, and has plenty of punch.

I have 1200RMS watts heading to a pair of Kappa Perfect's and they take it like a champ, these are 12's though of course and the input is turned down a tad

doubt you have 1200 RMS running into a set of those unless you have a seriously beefed up electrical system.

also, yes purchase the shivas if you want, JL's are over priced, and MANY ppl do not enjoy their sounds, they are a much different sound compared to others because of how they are made.

0 gauge wire, aftermarket HO alternator, big 3 all replaced, it certainly still flashes the dash lights though

the head unit currently on the 9-5 is integrated into the info center where it displays channel, and what not. it also has the premiium sound system which has 9 speakers in the car, it would be an interesting replacement.

ouch, if you were desperate a FM transmitter would always work but of course the sound quality would be crappy, but it might be ok if you were only doing GPS and low volume video, not my personally recommended method but at least it would work and could always be converted to a RCA out or converter when you get it done

ive thought about that, and i have yet to learn/research if the stocker actually has any inputs in the back (it also has a tape deck so that could possibly work too like they used to do with the older cd players). however i have no where to put the LCD except where the stock h/u goes since the stocker is a true double din, and not a 1.5 din. its huge. and that would be great.

Yeah, I'm currently leaning towards Adire. I want 10" subs for speed & quality. I have a friend who can get me a good discount on amps since he has a distributor hookup, so that's not a problem. 1000w amp + 2 Shivas?

The new shivas aren't available yet AFAIK.

edit: Two D4 subs will give you the option of either 1ohm or 4ohm final load. Two D8 subs will give you the option of either 2ohm or 8ohm. Personally I'd go with D4's.

Price vs perofrmance IMHO you cant beat eD and their package deals.

I have had the following systems
3 JL 12W6s better then the W3s

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_im...6/web/186000-186999/186602_13_full.jpg

1 ID10 and 12 (my brotehrs RSX Type S still has the 12 in it)

I decided to test out a cheap brand, I went with Pioneers, just awful compared to the previous 2.

and I then found eD subs here are the 3 different ones I had installed.
http://filebox.vt.edu/users/jkhan/4runner/3_wise_men2.jpg

I had an SPL setup
http://filebox.vt.edu/users/jkhan/4runner/2-ED-15s.jpg

but at the end of the day 3 years later I wanted a good mix of SQ/SPL and ended up with that single 12 in a sealed box in the 2 wise men pictures.

Whats coola bout eD is that I have spoken to the owner twice myself and Im just a nobody their customer service rocks, jsut give them a call or visit their forum/website:

http://www.edesignaudio.com/us.php

I would personally go with the 2 x 11 Ov.2 (10 inch subs)
and a nine.1 amplifier package deal brand new 3 year wrranty for 450 shipped.

CALL THEM trust me you wont be dissapointed.

If you are in VA you should come and take a listen to my truck.

i used to run eD, but there have been a LOT i repeat a LOT of issues lately with them.

QC isnt up that high, and numbers are supposedly off compared to what they could and should be. and performance is different than rated performance.

i wouldnt go with them again.

adire is well known and well respected in the industry.
