what are some of the best 10" subs for sound quality in a car?

I have a Saturn ION 1 that I use mostly as a work car. I want to put two 10" subs. I don't need them to be super-loud, just good sound quality. Currently considering the 10" Adire Shivas, any suggestions? Also what amp would you recommend?

assuming price isn't an issue. not unreasonably expensive, but I can save.

Well, what amp are you planning on using? How much space do you have?

I'd say under $700 for two subs and an amp. As far as the rear of the car goes, should I put coaxials in? Take out the stock speakers and leave it as an empty hole? Put passive radiators in em?

JL 10w3 are nice
Infinity Kappa Perfects are also a nice choice (this is what I run)

if you got the money JL 10w7 are awsome

Amp isn't selected yet. What would you recommend? It's a big trunk, I'm googling for size now. It's huge though.

Infinitys are good.

I got some MTX 10s, they suck. I got an 8" sub in my other car that sounds better (and louder!) than two MTX 10s.

Subs? They pretty much all sound the same...doubt you pass an A/B test.. Buy the cheapest you can find from a name brand manufacturer and used saved to buy good speakers.

I use ADS 12" subs in my F350 and infinity in my lincoln...The guy who installed them assured me I could have saved a bundle with some cheap MA Audio 2 x 12 for $100.

Image Dynamics IDMAX (does not have the XBL^2 motor) or RE XXX or Adire . Anything with the XBL^2 motor has a nice flat BL curve. IMHO, these sound better than anything JL makes. JL is def overpriced. But then again SQ is very subjective.

JL and Infinity Kappas

I've always been a fan of Precision Power too. Their amps are top of the line. I took a 200x2 and a 75x4 on a nonstop road trip to colorado from minnesota full volume the whole time and they withstood the test like true champs, never died, needed a break or even whimpered the whole trip. Mind you that was in July or August so the trunk was obviously a littler hotter then usual.

Infinity Kappas seem to be the best price/sound combination imho...you can find em usually locally at stores for something like 2 for $100 (or at least thats what there always doing around here)

newbie knows his stuff.

also check out Ascendant Audio. XBL^2, and very inexpensive, requiring a small amount of power, but pounding like no other from all i hear.

IDMAX is definitely a good choice. As mentioned earlier, Resonant Engineering XXX (or MT...more spl/sql than pure sq though), Adire Audio's Brahma, Ascendant Audio's Atlas or Avalanche are all awesome. Coupl'a Eclipse Ti's are pretty damn good as well. Also, aside from being overpriced, a W7 from JL is hard to beat.

Mostly it comes down to budget, power requirements, and free space. Well, that and whether or not you're a fanboi. :p

I like Subway and Quiznos the best but you'll have to cut off two inches if you want them to fit.
