What are some great food items I've never eaten?

Try this in the cold of winter -

Cook up some rice; make it moist and chewy, not dry.

Fry up some bratwurst. Beer brats probably work the best, but it's the quality of the brat itself, not what flavor it is (as long as it's not too sweet).

Mix some nice applesauce in to the rice when its done, until the mixture is creamy. You don't want it too dry, but you don't want it too applesaucy, so be careful as you add. Again - the applesauce should be slightly sweet but not too sweet.

Take two brats and slice them into bite-sized pieces. Grab your favorite bowl and fill it with the applesauce/rice mixture and stir in the brat pieces.

Enjoy.

you see, this is what happens when the OP doesn't give enough information on the subject requested.

Brussels sprouts sauteed with asparagus, red onion, ham or bacon, and a touch of balsamic vinegar. You'll thank me later for the taste, then hate me even later than that for the odd digestive effects.
