I'm on campus, so no grocery shopping, but our cafe has almost everything.

General: fat loss + muscle gain. Just need some names of good protein rich food. I have shakes, but that's just a supplement.

Fish and chicken. You can't go wrong! Actually, you can. Go with the most naked meat as possible. No fried or skinned chicken!

Quinoa, it's a grain. I like to toast it before I cook it.

Edit: your dining hall probably doesn't have it. If they have a good vegetarian contingent, they might have it, or might consider offering it. It's fairly easy to prepare -- no harder than couscous.

Lean beef. Red meat is fine, so long as you aren't eating it all the time.

Or you can eat it all the time, especially if you get grass-fed beef. That has a way better balance of omega-3 to omega-6's.

I'm still looking for grass fed beef. But lean beef of any kind is good, as is chicken, turkey, salmon, peanut butter, and whey protein powder. Those are my normal sources.

How do I identify (ascertain) that the beef is grass-fed? Would most grocery stores (Wal-Mart, Albertson's, etc.) carry it?

Thanks.

Beef being grass fed is a huge advertising point. If it's grass fed, there will be large signs tells you. It's hard to find it in everyday grocery stores, but if you can buy a large amount online and then freeze it afterward, the price is reasonable.
