What are good bikes in between cruisers and sportbikes?

Cyberian,

I think of the SV650 as a "sporty" bike, but the seating position is more upright. Has more character than a UJM, and has lots of performance potential. A cruiser? Not long and laid back, but not as squirly as a 600cc sportbike. Might fit the bill, but I admit to being performance oriented.

Don't know hwere you got that......the Nighthawk's engine is anvil-reliable. Almost cannot kill the machine and this is from MCN's experience and several thousand owners in several Nighthawk groups I participate in.
Not the most exciting bike, but quite comfortable and will cruise all day at 100 without sweating, if that's what you want to do. Besides, with any negotiating at all and you can walk out with one at $5K.

The SV650 is a really nice bike, but from my experience, I shy away from Suzi and Kawa.........only two models to die on me (and it seems lots of others feel the same way..........guess that's why Suzi and Kawa only generate about 20% market share between them, here in the US, in Europe, or Japan Honda's market share is around 45% in Japan and about 30% in the US. Yamaha consistently acheives 20% or so here and in Japan.) Yamaha is nice and Honda is, with rare exceptions, dead reliable, except for one particular model recently.........the VTX1800 running rich as hell....seems the mapping Honda's using for their intake is not quite right on some bikes.

But their are a lot of nice bikes out there by a lot of good companies.........just try them on until you find a comfortable one to live with.
