What are currently the hottest motorcycles out right now?

I've been out of the loop for a while. The last time I was reading into motorcycles, the Suzuki GSXR1000 and R1 were the hottest race replica bikes (well.. The Ducati too) and the ZX12R Kaw and Hyabusa were the hottest open class bikes. Has anything changed?

TIA,

Sal

I've never owned a motorcycle but I've wanted a gixxer for a long time 🙁.

I bet the gixxer 600 would already be too much for me to handle! 😛

*edit* this isn't on the topic of your thread, but look at this bike! link

Well the middleweight class is where the real competition is right now.
So.. Nothing much has changed with the R1, ZX9 and GSXR1000. I think I recall Honda bumping the displacement on their bike again, but can't remember the number because they like the odd number thing. Wasn't it a 929 before?

Nothing has changed in the open class either? Is the Hyabusa still the king of straight line weapons?

Heh.. Thanks for linking the middle weight bikes. That new 600RR Honda looks exactly like a R6.

The R1 was reengineered last year (Preview). The new R6 is based off this platform. Neither the ZX or GSXR have been significantly altered in the past couple years.

Yea, its the 954RR now.

Correct, and yes.

Ehh.. most sportbikes tend to look extremely similar. I don't think the Honda looks any more like the Yamaha than it does any other bike.

Actually isn't it a 954RR from Honda?

The new Ducatis are fast, but I still prefer the styling of the 998/748 better.

The ZX12R and Hayabusa have been tamed a little with electronic limiters IIRC.

Well.. Yamaha set the trend with those twin angular headlights on the R1 and R7 then Kawasaki and Honda followed suit. The angles on the new 600RR Honda look a lot like the R6 now.

The 2003 GSXR 1000 has been updated quite a bit actually.. New fairing and a bunch of internal engine mods..

I like the R1 for looks, the ZX9 for comfort (plus it's the sleeper of the group)....

My next toy is ganna be a cruiser.. maybe a V-max with a big comfy seat.....

I think the Suzuki GSXR1000 is the hottest production bike out there, still, and has had the trophy for the past few years. But it's hard to settle on just one bike. Depends on how often & how far you ride. You need a crotch-rocket for wheelie fun, a cruiser for slow rides, a big touring bike for long distance runs, maybe one or two others to fill in the gaps.
