I'll probably be asking my grandkids to help fix my "broken" neural computing interface when I'm in my 80s and they'll be like "man, grandpa sure sucks with computers huh!?"

:^D

I often speculate about that. I'm hoping I at least have a clue when I get old(er). Dealing with my mother and computers is an exercise in frustration.

My mom is 58 and she's pretty adept at computers. I'm 38 and had my first child this year. I hope that if I'm still alive in 20 years that I'll have a clue about mainstream technology.

Shouldn't old people drive really fast wherever they are going? I mean, they are almost dead, you think they would drive with a sense of urgency.

Young people also have the sense of entitlement so it works both ways.

I don't expect old people to pay for my housing and bills, or medical care.

My grandma (88) tells me she no longer buys green bananas :D

But yeah, she stopped driving several years ago. Since then I've visited her every few weeks. She's very sweet. I generally really like old people. On the one hand, a lot of them are sort of like children (especially my grandmother; she's still herself but she's definitely not as "sharp" as she once was), but at the same time they've been around a long time and can tell you about all sorts of crazy stuff they did when they were young. I always love it when I come across a sort of foul-mouthed old man or woman who talks about having "rolls in the hay" or getting drunk or whatever.

I remember one old guy I met at a bar who told me about his service in the later part of World War II. Far from being a humbled old veteran, this guy sounded like he was a real fuck-up at the time. He told me about how his whole regiment was full of slackers and how he went AWOL on his very first day on duty to go out drinking with a bunch of German civilians in his village. Funny guy. Oh, and then he went on a rant about how Obama is a pussy for wanting to close Guantanamo Bay. :p

Driving

Their driving

Driving, when they obviously are above the age to safely drive.

I'm sure that there are old people that don't expect for you to pay for theirs either, but I bet when you get old, you'll be expecting some of the money that you paid into SS to come your way (and no, I'm not stating that old people paid in nearly what they are receiving from the system as the payments were far too low from the beginning for it to work - ponzi scheme).

Then move out of your mom's basement.

These two terrible threads really need to be combined because no arbitrary group of humans has a monopoly on idiocy.

Statistically speaking, most people are fucking idiots. Doesn't matter if they're old, young, rich, poor, any ethnicity, any nationality.. Most people aren't worth the fresh water that 78% of their body is made of.

Start your own thread.

The things that bother me about both young and old people are:

A. A Sense of Entitlement.

B. Their Driving.

C. Their use of stubbornness as a badge of courage, and an excuse for their own ignorance.

I thought old people were the type to count other people's groceries to make sure they have 12 items or less.

Yep, we wouldn't dream of bringing 13 items at once. We'd make two trips or do without.
