STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS. WAIT UNTIL THE DAMN CARD IS RELEASED
Edit: (Not directing that at you Ronin)

Getting stressed? This is what people do here (make asumptions) or state they are under nda and make cryptic fud. Personally I expect this to be a great card, but to compete with the upcoming consoles will be tough. I am most interested in how quiet the single slot solution is as rumours seem to indicate the Ati card is hot and therefore likely noisy.
would you rather have it dull and boring?
there are forums like that
:Q
and now
you are even spreading rumours about ATI.
Anyway PC HW will not compete with consoles for quite awhile [especially if we include the game support] although i expect the next years' next gen GPUs to better their console counterparts.
this Fall - a 6800u or cheaper 7800 will be my last upgrade till '08 . . . other than games there is no compelling reason for me to get a faster rig than i have - when do you think Office apps and Internet browsing will require 3+ Ghz and 1GB RAM? . . . i don't mind waiting for my video to encode
in the meantime, i hope to hook up a KB+Mouse to a next gen console . . . my PC will be relegated to a few PC-only next-gen titles and office work . . . kinda sad really
[of course, i'll be back in '08 . . . when PC games take full advantage of physics cards, muiti-threaded games on HT-threaded multi-core CPUs with buckets of system RAM and SLI'd [or amr'd] [and maybe] dual-GPUs on a single card with 1GB of vRAM
