Beat me to it. I was going to give him the 6800 link. $236-$150 MIR.
BF2 @ 1280 res MED/LOW settings and 2x AA will get me 55 FPS.

yes, i know, however i will not have an ATI in my system! im sorry to all the ATI users, but im very bias to nVidia...
anyhoo...
this video card, unfortunately, will be a permanent vcard (for a while at least) which i why i need it to be max 180 CAD for a 6800GS, or something with similar clocks and unlockable to 16 pipes. the GSs are supposed to unlock REALLY easily, and most of them are actually able to!

hmmm...
would there happen to be a more refined version? say 256MB, or OC, or both for example?
im deciding whether to go with the 6800GS, or wait a little and go with the 7800GS (unless i can trade a lot of stuff for it...trading for the 68gs would be nice too 😀)
if there is an "upgraded" version of that card, i might get it...
thanks.

turns out they have 8 pipelines, and are people actually unlocking 2 quads on this sucker?

there is the link to the one im looking at and will most likely buy, especially if it can unlock 2 quads, let alone one. it needs at least one -- i dont wanna go with 2 quads only...!

read up a little bit i changed my focus on that too...
im so messed up 🙁
im getting a PCIe/AGP mobo, which is why the slot doesn't concern me too too much. the XT though i would like to be PCIe only because of the lack of a quad and a little speed off the core clock.
PCIe is obviously better so i would want that, but AGP doesnt realy matter to me anymore, as long as i have a card that will last for the next (about) 2 years solid.
about the whole idea of saving up, that seems to be a good idea. i will be buying a S939 3200+ for $110 CAD -- STEAL!!! also, im getting the ECS K8T890-A temporarily, and then maybe the ASRock (if i go AGP).
we'll see, as its quite complicated lol.

If you're going to save up, don't bother with the AGP/PCI-E mobo. Get a straight PCI-E motherboard. The only reason you'd want both slots to is if you already have a fast AGP card (which you don't), but you want to upgrade cpu.
If you really want to switch to PCI-E, I would suggest you check this out:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/...m-details.asp?EdpNo=1644233&CatId=2023
$465.00 CAD for a 7800GT and socket 939 SLI motherboard + $110 CAD for S939 3200+
= $575 CAD total. ($498 US, to put it into perspective for the rest of us)
