What actions or proposals have warranted your support for Ron DeSantis as POTUS?

There are numerous people in this forum that have expressed their support for DeSantis as POTUS. I'm asking specifically what policy proposals by Ron sways your support?

I'm looking for judgements other than mine as to why Ron should be President.

I like RDS because he wants to do _________________________
I like RDS because he has done __________________________

Does the DeSantis agenda like up with your own political beliefs?

I'm curious.

I'm honestly having a hard time finding a rational reason why anyone would support DeSantis, and that's coming from a cynical view.

If you're a Trumpist... well, Trump's running again, so you vote for him if he wins the primary.

After that, it gets weirder. You have to be opposed to Trump but still blindly loyal enough to vote for anyone with an "(R)" in front of their name. Or you actively support DeSantis' pro-hate, pro-censorship stances.

They'll never admit to it, but it's going to be something like "he's a bully that picks on groups of "others" that i already don't like". He has nothing of substance to say other than to keep repeating freedom and woke and that he did absolutely nothing to stop covid other than giving donors first crack at vaccines (that don't work). If there was a drinking contest involving his speeches, everyone playing would die from alcohol poisoning.

I suppose the choices would either be "because he's the best man to take it to the candy ass libs and own their asses" or "he'll swear to back up and support our racists and other such true blue armed to the hilt American patriots". I mean that's pretty much all that's left of the GOP ideology after Trump made things real personal and steered the party toward a future where democracy is no longer what binds the nation together. It will be whatever the corporate power behind the throne wishes it to be. They already have the nation's highest court in their back pocket so all they need is to have the Democrats out of the way to seal the deal.

It is because they like people who portray an image of "strong man". regardless if they are or not, or what their policies are. They want someone to "own the libs" and act tough, while accomplishing nothing but making their lives more miserable.

Don't know how any rational person could vote for someone other than the Dem this time around (that was also true in 2016 and 2020, but still). If DeSantis gets in, you can expect him to try his "anti-woke," anti-LGBT, pro-censorship strategy on a national level. Imagine all the maliciousness of Trump, but with enough competence to do more damage.

I know, but the key is that you have to vote Democrat. Have to. Voting for a third-party on principle sounds nice in theory, but effectively you're voting for DeSantis if you go that route.

No I dont. And no it doesnt.

Sure it does. Historically, splits due to independent candidates have favored Republicans. If even a fraction of the Floridians who voted for independent parties in 2000 had chosen Gore, for example, we wouldn't have had the neoconservative mess of Bush Jr.

You don't have to like that you're effectively supporting the GOP candidate when you vote independent, but you can't change that you are. And that won't really change until the US has a true multi-party system... which isn't about to happen.

Oh god, seriously - we are telling people that they must vote such and such away?? This is a democracy (sort of). Just leave people alone and let them vote the way they want. Using the guise of 'the only rational choice' is a funny way to tell someone that they must vote 'my way'.

Other than that, I have no idea why @HomerJS is always trying to pick a fight with people who will just spit out Fox talking points.

While I much prefer Trump running from prison I can't help but think that Meatball will make a fine substitute, because, in my mental landscape view or the world, neither one of them should have the slightest prayer of winning. They are exemplars extraordinaire of the phenomenon of Republican mental illness that won't stand a chance of winning unless the right to vote and have it count is subverted as is their intention.

-Uhhhh what? This is a democracy so it's in our best interest to convince others to vote in a way that we believe will result in the best outcome for all of us.

As far as DeSantis... Well you can either be a guy that's afraid of a man wearing a dress or you can be afraid of the man who thinks the government should tell people what to wear.

Soliciting an opinion is not picking a fight. This is supposed to be open debate/discussion. If you support DeSantis it shouldn't be hard to articulate why.

Because as we have seen in recent history, there are millions of horrible people in this country who thrive and love horrible GQP leaders and policies - so it's easy as fuck for me to understand why lots of shitty people will support a really shitty person as a candidate, and Ron is one of the shittiest. So it all makes a lot of sense to me.
