Ok, 280lbs is overweight, but it's not like they were 600lbs or something. I'd guess quite a few people here on ATOT weigh 280lbs. Ohhh wait, I forgot.... everyone on ATOT is 165lbs and 3% body fat.

Kinda cruel considering the son had a lifelong heart condition and was awaiting transplant, and neither of them were in the "I'm so fat they had to surgically remove me from the couch and cut a hole in the wall to stretcher me out of here" category.

Maybe karma will get the last laugh when one of the writers/editors there dies on the toilet in 30 years.

Doesn't surprise me that most of you guys find it funny yet show no remorse about the deceased, that ironic stigma of "ATOT Against Fatties" rears is ugly head once again. Yes, I thought the headline was damn funny and a great play-on-words, but unlike most of you who are probably just interjecting all the taunting and being picked on you endured while growing up, I sincerely feel bad for these people and those who now have to handle the funeral arrangements for them.

SAD WEIGH TO GO
OBESE MOM & SON FOUND DEAD

November 15, 2007 -- A morbidly obese woman was found dead in her Staten Island apartment - sprawled in front of her open refrigerator - with the body of her overweight son in the next room.

The mom and son - both of whom had been ill - are believed to have died of natural causes.

....

"Usually, he'd have groceries with him."

Just another example about how the media in this country is absolute shit.

Well look at the website. Looks very comicbooky. I agree that the this is in bad taste and pretty fucked up.

The NY Post is pretty much a tabloid, despite being a primary daily newspaper for the region. IIRC, it was the Post that had a full front page closeup of people jumping out of thw WTC buildings to their deaths a couple of days after the attacks.

"ironic"? I think the fat ATOTers probably stay out of the "anti-fatty" threads, much like the conspiracy theorists stay out of Highly Technical and the non-gearheads don't (for the most part) participate in Garage debates.

umm...you honestly think 300 is a perfectly normal acceptable weight? The only people who can carry a "healthy" 300 are the truly massive football players...and they quickly go to crap once they retire and stop exercising all the time.

Besides, "morbid obesity" is defined as being >=100 lbs. overweight, or having a BMI of 40 or above. You can argue about the applicability of the BMI for some special cases, but for the vast majority of people that's a perfectly valid, medical definition. And it ain't healthy.

30 or above is actually considered obese. My BMI is 33.1. I am 6'3 and 265 lbs. and not fat at all. My resting heart rate is 48. I think BMI should just go away.
