So I've got some uh..."operations" going on in the basement, you know the typical hazardous chemicals, materials, explosives, and high powered equipment/electronics. Made sure I had the right kind of fire extinguishers just in case...but I had no idea how bad it would be if I needed to use them.

This shit is everywhere, a mixture of powdered sodium chloride and some kind of bicarbonate. Looks like the entire place is coated in cocaine and billions of tiny crystals. Smells terrible (at first, now I don't know if I can smell at all). Its all in my nose and eyes and every crevice and pore in my body. I already tried to change and its even between my uh..toes. I guess it's better than blowing up the neighborhood, but damn. I wonder what kind of health effects this will cause.

*cough cough* This shit is like a paste in/on me.

Like I said, I have a bunch of electronics and stuff down there and the powder is in everything. I can't wash anything because there were flammable metals involved. Not that you can wash electronics anyway. I've got a large sore welt on my hand that is not a burn. I've seen cold burns as well, this is different. Looks like some kind of swelling, I wonder if you can get an embolism from one of these things.

*ahhhhh* What a pain in the a$$...but I guess that's the life of a basement troll. Now I gotta go shave everything and soak in a tub of dish soap. Well after I figure out how to remove most of this crap from the basement. There's no way any ordinary vacuum will clean this, it'll just spread it around (and probably start another fire).

So just a word of warning for anybody out there doing something similar. Perhaps compartmentalize things to contain any fire and the resulting mess. Some kind of disguised filtered ventilation system may be useful as well.

*Phhhfle bleh cough* This crap tastes bad too... *cough cough*

So... umm... what were you doing down there?

Also maybe buy CO2 fire extinguishers as well as powder next time?

Gotta hate when that happens. Definitely compartmentalize each batch. Rather than make one big batch at a time have multiple small ones going on. With some basic robotics you can automate the whole thing so you just see the end result at the end and you can ship it out. Technically don't even have to go in the basement while it's operating, just go in to refill the drums that feed each unit.

You can also hire Mexicans to do the dirty work.

Sounds like you are rolling in the dough. Did you toss your cookies? Gotta watch the electric stuff or you'll end up baked.

Two things no home should be without. A gun and a fire extinguisher. But you don't want to use either in the home. They make big messes.
