I seem to always get free food at Bennegan's. Then again, I also get things such as jagged metal shards in a monte cristo and waiters who completely forget you ever ordered.

Well the whole problem started when you was not there when the food was up. You were willing to let it sit under the warmer lights until you got around to getting the food for your customers. Your whole life will go along blaming others for your shortcomings.

The server has no control on how long the kitchen takes to get the apps, or any dish for that matter. As far as the drink... if s/he is slammed, you will not get quick refills...

this is where, imo, attitude comes in... if the server makes eye contact or a nod to let me know that they are aware I need something and will be there as soon as they can, fine... If they take forever, or the food is slow or wrong, or they drop something, fine... as long as the attitude is good and they are friendly and seem to be trying or at least that they care... I can deal with it... sh!t happens.

But a bad attitude, a dont care attitude, or pretending that they dont see, or care that ppl need stuff will result in $1.00 no matter what the bill is.

I had a waiter once that was about to take my order, then made me wait while he went to a table that had just left to count the money. He then yelled across the restaurant to the hostess that they had screwed him on the tip. I was alright with leaving to count the money, because it was all-you-can-eat wing night which attracts a lot of high school punks who eat and try to sneak out without paying. But yelling across the restaurant was a bit too much. I gave him a decent tip (partly to make up for all the people who screwed him), but not nearly as much as I'd normally leave on a night like that when I know the waiters are stressed out.
