When it rains it pours. I know this from experience. Things will get better, I'll be praying for your family. I encourage you to pray as well.

What diagnostic criteria is the physician using?

Typically a positive occult blood finding indicates a colonoscopy is necessary with a biopsy, but occult blood can be from hemorrhoids, internal & external.

Doesn't she have lupus?

Originally diagnosed as lupus, but was traced to a heart problem. Still has fibromyalgia though, but that is much easier to deal with now that the heart problem is being treated with beta blockers.

Yes, we know about the 'roids. The Dr doesn't think so, but we're still doing the colonoscopy. In the meantime, she's treating it as if it's 'roids with diet changes and creams. Figure it's worth a shot, however unlikely it is.

My mom suffers from fibromyalgia. It sucks big time.

It does suck bad. It was worse when her heart would slow down too. That's what made the dr's in california think it was lupus. But once we found out here in Colorado it was her heart causing a lot of the problem (blackouts, fatigue, etc) things were much better. :)

Didn't think anybody really gave a crap.

She refuses to go back to the dr's. So we have no update on the colon cancer.

Financially I'm making SLOOOOOOW progress.

Daughter's doing awesome. Happy and healthy. :D

I can only do so much. She has to be the one to go. I bug at least 3 times a week though.

At this point she'll either go to shut me up, or never go just to spite me.

Please, PLEASE, make her go to the doctor. My mom stubbornly refused to see a doctor and knew she was sick (we did not), and by the time her colon cancer got so bad she had to be hospitalized, she only lived two more months.

If not for herself, or you, she has a child (children?) to think of. Losing their mother at such a young age will be devastating. Do whatever drastic measure you have to, but make it happen.

Denial is not a cure for cancer. Please let her know that many people beat cancer (my mom is on that list), but that they must confront it, not run away.

She must go if she doesn't want to be a burden on you and the rest of the family. My mother too had colon cancer. It's now in her lungs and lymphatic system. She wishes she caught it earlier.

I hope part of what you are doing is physically loading her into your vehicle for appointments. She cannot afford to not go. :(

You have to get her to go see the doctor, chances are very good she can be cured of it. But the longer you wait the worse things get.

Force her to go to the doctor. Been there, done that. It hurts to do it at the time, but as long as it will eventually improve quality of life, then I was able to convince myself it was worth it, even when (my frame of reference) didn't think that it was.

My wife works at a hospital in the GI surgery area. Colon cancer is one of the most treatable beatable cancers.
