Very sorry to hear this bad news

Our thoughts and prayers are with your wife. I hear colon cancer is one of the most treatable types.

Don't sweat the finances, they can be fixed. Believe me I've been to the bottom and back

colon cancer sucks

you must feel like the unluckiest guy in the world.

one of my best friends has had cancer, twice, once in his nuts, and the second time on his lymph nodes and lungs, so i know how it feels kinda, to have a very real chance of losing someone you care for.

hopefully its a false alarm, if not i hope your health insurance pays up for the treatment, if not ill gladly PP you

bummer all around.
We have/had a very sick daughter too (she 2.5 now too) Luckily it was never anything "horrible" just countless minor things with her. She's had a few hip surgeries, tonsils and adenoids removed too. If its any hope for you, while the post tonsil/adenoid stuff SUCKED HORRIBLY, she did get better and really hasn't been nearly as miserable as she was pre surgery either. IT really did help her from getting colds and sinus infections etc... so, while it does suck now, it will get better.

As for the cancer, that just blows. Hopefully it was all caught early, and while nothing related to cancer is "good news", the good news is that it is so treatable nowadays its amazing. NOt saying tough times aren't ahead, but life (expeciually with children) is never going to be easy.

One day at a time, ejjoy the love you have for your children and wife, and their love for you. That is why we are here... there is no other reason. Best of luck, you have my thoughts and prayers and, no matter how hard it is, have a merry Christmas and a happy and blessed New Year!

No worries about insurance. I've got kick arse insurance. :) Not even copays for the surgeries or hospital visits!

At least that's something I *don't* have to worry about.

Smart man to value good health over saving money. My prayers are with you.

Good luck Duroc, your family is in our prayers. :)

Just went through a bad accident (hit by drunk driver), and then an appendectomy right after (unrelated) on Thanksgiving. When it rains, it pours man. :(

ditto

I don't usually foray into OT, but saw this thread referenced in Forum Issues. Sorry things seem bad. Hope they improve quickly for you & your family.

What diagnostic criteria is the physician using?

Typically a positive occult blood finding indicates a colonoscopy is necessary with a biopsy, but occult blood can be from hemorrhoids, internal & external.

Doesn't she have lupus?

Originally diagnosed as lupus, but was traced to a heart problem. Still has fibromyalgia though, but that is much easier to deal with now that the heart problem is being treated with beta blockers.

Yes, we know about the 'roids. The Dr doesn't think so, but we're still doing the colonoscopy. In the meantime, she's treating it as if it's 'roids with diet changes and creams. Figure it's worth a shot, however unlikely it is.
