What a dumb decision by our company owner

We have a good 70-80 cars between our main lot and a smaller back lot. It's going to take 2 days to do the job and in the mean time we'd have to find our own parking. There's a small lot across the street for some small businesses but that lot only holds about 30 cars and I'm sure the business owners will be delighted to have us overfill their lot. I fail to see why this couldn't be done over the weekend when the office is closed.

Working weekends = paying extra. Doing 2 lots at the same time = less money. See this is why you're a grunt bitch and not the company owner.

This is why you're not the one making that decision. It costs a BOATLOAD more money for after hours work and weekend could be 2.5 times pay. So for cost reaons it's done during normal working hours, outside of that is overtime pay. And by doing it all at once instead of staggering you don't have four days of work where you're paying all that extra for supervisors and such. Only 16 hours of their time vs. 32.

Seriously man, you need to access your car two times a day. MAYBE 4 if you are the type that goes out to lunch everyday. So what if you have to walk an extra 5 minutes each time? Have you never wasted 10-20 minutes a day on the company's clock?

Would you prefer that they shut down for the two days and not pay anyone for the time they missed?

The smart thing to do would've been to do one lot one weekday, then the other later so that you're only out one lot at a time...may or may not cost more though.

The company owner has a job to make sure the company does not waste money. one of the ways he did that is having the place repaved on on one day an dmakeing people walk.

You are obviously missing the point. I think people can understand the financial decision he made, but a little respect for the the employees would be nice. (ie an email saying, I am sorry for the inconvenience but this has to be done, blah blah, just stick it out for two days, blah blah).

It really isn't that hard to practice common courtesy if you are a normal human. Unfortunately, I think you and the owner don't have that going for you.

There was renovation going on and people were angry because the worker's trucks were parked in the parking lot and they had to park on the street.
