Whale Wars new season starts tonight (4/27)

Apparently 8:00 EST has a one-hour about their escapade in libyan waters recently, but at 9:00, the anti-norway season.

I find this show highly entertaining.

A lot of what I liked about the show was their battle against the harsh conditions and isolation in Antarctica with nothing to rely on but their own dubious seamanship skills. I'll watch the first one, but not sure I'll like it as much.

What do you mean?
The Japanese have stopped fishing for Whales?
This time it's for the "grind", some mass killing of whales by the Faroe islands, but it seems like these people eat the whales and their comparisons to slaughter houses the world over are good, IMO. Sea Shepard hasn't made a case on the show as to why they care.

The hour episode about bluefin tuna was quite funny, watching sea shepard lose one of their delta's briefly to prop-fouling. A completely worthless campaign other than freeing the tuna of one fishing boat, who's catch may have been legal anyway.

they also spread misinformation on their website
...The whales are stoned, speared, stabbed, slashed, and clubbed by people in a festive atmosphere...

which is a straight up lie, since 1985 any means of killing besides the grindaknívur(grindekniv) has been outlawed.

grindadráp is highly regulated, noncommercial and a big part of faroese history, the whales aren't endangered and they don't suffer anymore than a cow going to the slaughterhouse.

I foresee a lot of red tape for them. Nobody really condoned what Japan was doing and don't need the whale meat for jack squat, but these guys are likely to face a lot of issues with law enforcement if they try and do really much at all, I think.

I think the problem people have though, even with the Faroe islands stuff, is that whales are highly intelligent, social animals - whereas cows are about as smart as your average squirrel

Overall - other than the Japanese fleet's activities, whale hunting all over the world is WAY down from where it was.

pigs are smarter than whales, but we still eat bacon.

btw, squirrels are actually quite intelligent animals.

So I've never heard of this show, but for some odd reason I came into this thread wondering if someone had made a 400+ lb wrestling show or something. 😛

i agree, pigs and squirrels outrank cows by many times on intelligence

if you have ever had to deal with cows (live on a farm, herd cows, etc) you know how stupid they are. just eat them 😀

The new season starts on June 1, what are you talking about?
