Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV $699 @ the Egg

I also own this TV and use it with my PVR and is a great set for the money. The remote is kind of a pain to get it to work and sometimes there is some backround light in the corners. I would buy this TV again for how well it has performed for me untill I get a 1080p 40 or bigger TV.

I own the 37" and would seriously consider another Westy as my next TV purchase, regardless of 32", 37", or 42". Incredible value... almost a steal even at MSRP.

A couple of posters on avsforum say that the 32w1 has a superior picture to the 32w3, even using component or DVI inputs on both.

What I'd like to know is -- how could close you to sit to this if using it as a computer gaming monitor? 3 feet? 5 feet? I would like the immersive feel from having it fill so much of the peripheral vision, but I don't want it to look too pixelated.

I use the Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p for a gaming monitor and it looks great at 2 feet away. BF2 never looked so good! 😀

back down to $699 after $100 MIR, but it now shows $28.66 for shipping. anyone have a guess if they will run the lower price with free shipping again?

Westing....what ? no name junk

you obviously have no idea what your talking about.

i own 2 of these nd they kick arse.

i got mine less than 6 months ago and they were 1200..

well worth it then even more worth it now.

i have ZERO dead pixels. and no backlight issues.

i also have an Olevia 27" i use on my PC and its a piece of ******.
it supports 1080i but not very well and definately not on a computer whether your using HD mode w/ DVI or HD mode via Component tv out. the picture is horrid. and bigger than the tv screen.
it has a HORRIBLE pulldown ratio.

i contacted Olevia about it and the tech told me very politely and upfrint that there is a long standing issue with the tv and they know all about it and there is no fix. only fix is to return it.

well thanks to their slow R&D dept. (2 week wait) after they wanted to try a few things and get back to me, i am now out of the return or rma range with newegg.
i am PEEVED!!
false advertising on olevia's part.

i have never ever had 1 single issue with my 2 Westinghouse LCD's! they are awesome you will never find a better lcd for 699.

You honestly can't find better image quality anywhere near their prices (Westinghouse 32', 37' 1080p, 42' 1080p').

Some pics to share (forget those speakers, I've since upgraded those crappy Sonys): http://www.overclockersclub.com/gallery/?act=case&id=1139

nice pics, you should think about picking up an upconverting DVD player. I have the Samsung HD841 or 941 and it amazes me the quality of the upconversion. It also runs the Farjouda chip just like the TV itself, so 2 of those chips together make for one beautiful picture.

I am not sure how you have the DVD player hooked up to the TV, but I believe the DVI input doesn't utilze Farouhja (only component1, and maybe component2). Farouhja is amazing.

officially it uses the chip for upconversion over DVI only. But some peeps found a hack for the HD841 and are able to do the upconversion over component. I can't express how good the dvd quality is upconverted to HD. It rivals what my pc can do on my 1080p westy using FFDshow and all the other tweaks.

Anyone know if this is any good with the XBox 360? Also do I need any special connectors for this to be hook up to the XBox 360? Thanks.

WooYing, there are a number of comments on the above-referenced avsforum thread that say the 32" Westy is spectacular with the Xbox 360. You can use component video (3 RCA plugs) or buy an add-on VGA cable (eBay has them cheap). No DVI out for the 360, however.

one of the pics I posted was from PGR3 using the VGA cables at 1360x768.

Guys, this is a really nice display for the money. I was watching Band of Brothers last night via my Xbox 360 (component) and kept getting distracted by how beautiful the picture was. It is worth the money. I paid about a grand for it from BB last year in November. BTW, games are amazingly nice on this set.

I've had this set since Black Friday last year. I got it for $849 shipped and it was well worth the money. DVD is beautiful over component, and my S-video DirecTivo picture is respectable. If you adjust down the backlight, the black levels are nice. No dead pixels BTW.
