I was just looking at the receipt it says for $60.00 you have to purchase between Oct 7 - 14, 2000.
For WD $30 rebate its good from 8/13/2000 - 11/11/2000.

So if you know any COMPUSA that gets these drive in stock just go there and PRICE MATCH again. I mean even if the drive is $300 when you price match with BEST BUY you get it for $129.99 - $60.& $30. so final cost $39.99

FOR ALL THOSE THAT GOT LEFT OUT STILL A CHANCE CALL UP 1800-COMPUSA to see which store has the Drives it in your area they update it every night.

Those guys at COMPUSA were pissed they know about the deal i had no problem just asked the customer service rep he send me to a manger i told them BEST BUY sell this for $129.00 he didnt even call and just refunded my money.

REMEMBER to tell the BEST BUY rep to scan the drives their tag say $179.99 - 30 rebate but when they scan it its $129.97.

I am in New Jersey and I think mostly all the Northern and Central NJ is sold out. Wait a few days you got till Saturday so lets hope they restock them. I would just CALL daily and find out and tell them to HOLD one or maybe just call up 1800-COMPUSA and see if they will match it on the phone so you pay for shipping but this kinda deal dont come often.

Can someone please post the $60 rebate link. I'm wondering if the $60 rebate states that the drive has to be purchased at original full price.

If anyone has been fast enough to get one of these into their computer, how does it feel? Can you notice the difference in speed because of it being 5400 rpm rather than 7200.

Lord of death i wetn personally to all the stores except springfield and NY ones. Paramus has none, both the stores in paramus, i wetn to totowa to get my adjustment on price they were out. Springfield i called they had NONE so dont go by their ONLINE thing it sucks call the stores and let them check PHYSICALLY TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE DRIVES.

Yeah, I got burned by the online thing too. Idea though:
how about just going and getting a rain check for the drive, at the current price. I'd think they could print out a receipt with the correct dates and all for the rebates, then you could just wait for the drive to come in. Does CompUSA do this? I thought about this as I walked disappointedly from the store to my car but couldn't overcome my intrinsic lazy-ass-ness to go and try it. I guess I could always drive a few hundred miles to tulsa oklahoma, the sixth closest store to me and but the drive :)

I too trusted the online stock thing and got burned. I asked for a rain check at one store that didn't have any drives due to "shipping problems" but no go...

I was going to go to the Springfield store on my way to Target and a nearby golf driving range, but the closest Best Buy didn't have any of the drives in stock. I'm not sure at what distance CompUSA considers a local competitor to be, so you might be able to use a different Best Buy (try calling the Best Buy in East Hanover). Too bad I can't check that out myself tomorrow since I have to go back to school :p

You people must be dumb...I posted it like 5 times in the original thread that EDISON, NJ HAD LIKE 17 DRIVES YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. Of course, I don't know if they still have em, but they did yesterday. They started the day with 30 drives. I successfully pm'd two. Jesus, I try helping you guys but it looks like you guys don't really want the drive.

To see if there are best buy's in your area, go to www.bestbuy.com and click store locator. Yes, there are best buys in jersey, in fact a new one just opened up (and it's really close to the edison location of compusa). Sheesh...if I had the time i'd buy another one, or two, this drive is AWESOME.

BEST BUY raised the price on WD 45gigs its 179.99 now. (Atleast the one in Totowa NJ, The guy scanned it and its $179.99 - $30.00 rebate)

Yes we have best buy in New Jersey.

1. first off, a comment on pricematching / anandtech shopping:
IMHO - its 50% getting a good deal and 50% upseting the CSRs :)

2. here's the scoop about this deal. ITS NOT HAPPENING.
i just got back from North Paramus - STore # 433 - and after ALOT of scrounging around the found some. but as stated, all the BustBuy's we called said $179.99 - $30.00. i took this and hope to get it total for $89.99. not bad. tell me if anyone knows any more info.

3. lastly, North Paramus Superstore Paramus, NJ 07652-3522 (201) 612-2777 , has around 12 left. contrary to previous reports. ask for ERROL if you cant find them. he was helpful.

I know this is a great deal, but I've had terrible luck with Western Digital hds, so I'm gonna pass. If it were an instant rebate, I might take a chance, but since it's a MIR, feh.

Here in Houston.... $129.99 + tax less than $140 - 90!!!

Ok, here is the deal....... Can Somebody be kind enough ( since I understand and know that I am illiterate about Price Matching) to be kind enough the steps necessary to do the Price Matching with the 30 off of 60...Please..please..... I want this drive.... I think I might be able to get one...live in the Baltimore area.....Please....I am actually begging this time....PLEASE AND PLEASE EXPLAIN IN LAYMAN TERMS....
All the other hot deals.. i wanted to get but they were all complicated.... this one... this one is in my budget and i have a hunch there might be one or two drives left here in Bmore CompUSA...and what's with the Best Buy....I would be willing to see if somebody can explain it to me..live...
