😕 at all of the opinions from today, saying it's a better show now than it was before, or it hasn't suffered since sorkin left. um, are we even watching the same show? i can't remember the last time i was so close to considering someone's opinion wrong! simply put, it sucks now, and if you're still a fan (or a new one, <shudder>), get your fill now 'cause it ain't gonna be around much longer.

The dialogue is fine, the characters are the same its the story lines that suffer. No matter who writes it there isnt much left to write. At least there isnt much left to write that audiences would take interest in. Its been a few months into the new "era" of TWW and everyone wants to dump on it. Give it time, evaluate the season not just the episodes.

The show is not that old. By your logic, all shows should end within a couple of years.

actually, that isn't such a bad idea (benchiu's) ;-)

it was sucking in the last seasons of sorkin anyways, so its no big difference.

and btw, one show that got "it" back is the practice🙂

yah its the James Spader show now and it rocks.

I liked the practice when it first came out....fell out of it....now I love it again. James Spader makes the show awesome! I hope it keeps going strong.

Another show I really like is Threat Matrix.

Anyway, back on topic....

The West Wing is ok now, but not as good as earlier seasons. I am still watching it though....

Im so tired of people blaming the departure of sorkin/schlamme for the shows decline in ratings. In all actuality, the show just cant go too much farther. What else is left? The dialogue is fine, the characters are the same its the story lines that suffer. No matter who writes it there isnt much left to write. At least there isnt much left to write that audiences would take interest in. Its been a few months into the new "era" of TWW and everyone wants to dump on it. Give it time, evaluate the season not just the episodes.

The show is not that old. By your logic, all shows should end within a couple of years.

Not sure how my logic works for all shows. Not even sure you understood my post. A show about a postion that can only last a max. of 8 years has a shelf life. It is a much shorter shelf life than a sit-com persay. The show is in its 5th season and he has already been reelected...so it is winding down no matter what. Now if they take this show and continue it with a whole new staff would anyone watch?

It's been done many times. Law and Order, ER, The Practice, just to name a few. With a good writer, a show can lost quite some time.

Again..I didnt say any drama. I am speaking specifically to a show about the president. A president can only be in office for a maximum of 8 years. Therefore a show about him would only be able to cover 8 years of chronological events. They have already gone past the half way point and the ending is in sight. ER and L&O dont have timetable constraints. Get it?
