So this is a thing/law in Alaska?
Scare a cop and you can be arrested?
Buncha pussies.

"The troopers arrested Ben Tikka on several counts, including fourth degree assault for placing troopers in fear of physical injury. The Kenai District Attorney’s Office later dismissed the case."

Even Judges ....

Same upstanding judge Ryan removed from the bench for her racism?

“In the phone recordings, Ryan uses an anti-gay slur against David Coulter, the county’s highest elected official, who is gay. She also refers to Black people in the US as lazy.”

Guess this is the right thread. Really don't understand what happened here - pure incompetence or something darker?

Don't know for sure of course, but my first guess is "incompetence".

Forgot why I pulled this up, but the official stats for hospital deaths due to "mistakes" was something like 98,000 PER YEAR, only in the US. Then a couple other studies came out that bumped it to 210,000 and 440,000.

That's a freaking lot of people even if the low end is true.

Incompetence and a coverup at a bare minimum.. but how do you lose a body for a year?

Considering she's a female.. I'm also thinking maybe she was killed to silence her..

Well, it's the misleading claim as to what happened to the poor woman, that caused her family so much unnecessary grief, that's the issue. By "something darker" I don't mean to imply murder, but just whether the miscategorisation of what happened was purely administrative ineptitude (quite bad enough in itself) or if it was somehow related to a reluctance to investigate or acknowledge mistakes in her treatment.

On a similar theme, there's also also this

I actually saw the dashcam..

Lets just say it's not flattering for anyone involved and other than the bystanders that were shot, there are no innocents.

I'll let you all watch the dash cam and comment later on.. as I really don't see the point in defending anyone else.

Should serve as a warning to hypochondriacs that like to do unnecessary procedures. I worked in the Biomedical Engineering department at Evanston Hospital (now some Franciscan outfit) way back in the late 70s. One of my duties was checking for electrical leakage from patient monitors and other gear, so you wouldn't get electrocuted. These readings were recorded and kept in case something bad happened.

Doctors are some of the most passive-aggressive liars in the world. It's only incompetence because what inside a person's head is inaccessible and system of punishment can only go by what is proven. You wonder why malpractice lawyers make money? It's because doctors and other medical experts cross the line either in the name of profits or misanthropy.

Anyone who goes that crazy and hurts innocent civilians in NYC going about their business definitely needs to be put down.

But this is systemic.. too many crazies out on the street when they should be in mental institutions.

It's as if all the scandals are merging into one big one.

One detective constable, who is accused of regularly taking cash bribes to carry out Fayed’s wishes, was secretly given a mobile phone from Harrods to facilitate his illicit work, according to a former security chief at the luxury department store.

Separately, a senior commander in the Met was alleged to have received large Harrods hampers “whenever he had been a particularly great help”, and Fayed was described as “ingenious” in his use of the police to access confidential records on the Police National Computer.

One alleged victim of the corruption is said to have been a young nanny to Fayed’s children, Hermina da Silva, who was was dismissed in 1994 after apparently rejecting the billionaire’s advances. She was arrested on trumped up allegations of theft after threatening a sexual harassment case but was later released without charge.

Many of those crazies are in uniform. Others have high-status jobs as doctors or psychiatrists.

another shining example of American police brutality and incompetence
A bit of a no-update update.

From the evasive responses the Independence PD is still desperately trying to figure out how to spin this.

"Officers encountered a female who ultimately was armed with a knife. As a result of that encounter, it resulted in two fatalities, one to the armed female, one to a child," Dustman said.

"Ultimately was armed with a knife" is some weird wording.
