Did you know that the United States has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world, that the U.S. inmate population has quadrupled since 1980 to two million people, that $46 billion a year is spent on U.S. prisons, that more than half of the incarcerations are for nonviolent offenses, and that blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans are over-represented throughout the U.S. prison system?

Yes, i knew that. I also disagree with the "war on drugs" which is the main cause of the high incarceration rate.

Too bad Asscroft doesn't disagree with the war on drugs.

No wonder that $87 billion in U.S. taxpayer money to ?rebuild Iraq? includes $400 million for two 4,000-bed prisons ($50,000 per bed)

Wha? How in the world does it cost that in much to build that in iraq? I can see, maybe, for ultra high security prisons built in the USA but in iraq? Cmon!

Too bad Reno didn't either.

In fact, the prison population expanded more rapidly during those 8 years than any other time in history.

Note the wording....

war ON drugs, not war AGAINST drugs.

I believe it refers to the state of the ruling party.
