Taney Court 2.0

That's an insult to the Taney Court.

The really sad thing is (if Clarence Thomas is to be believed) we are only at the beginning of this court demolishing the USA to be replaced by our equivalent of the CCP.

Fortunately/unfortunately (you choose) I strongly suspect there will be many more incidents along the lines of Jan 6th but far more widespread (and from BOTH sides) as this happens leading to at least partial breakdown of society in the US and eventually to some major change.

Thing is that kind of change historically has ALWAYS come soaked in blood. (look back to the late 1960's for reference)

The reality is that the same straight-up evil that carpet-bombed Cambodia and kept us in the meat-grinder of the Vietnam war in order to line their pockets never went away and they've learned from past failures.

Same with the Confederates.

Yeah, ^ this. That they took the case at all means you can already forecast what the decision will be.

Yeah. Apparently (just from what I've read, not being any sort of expert) the odd thing about this case is that the legislature in North Carolina specifically gave the state's court the power to decide redistricting disputes. So even if one concludes Constitutionally the state Court can't over-rule the legislature on such an issue, it's hard to see how it would be relevant here, where the legislature itself told the Court it could.

Given that, the implication seems to be that they took this case because it was the only one on offer on which they could hang the ruling they have already decided they want to make (just as they made do with a weak case in the Kennedy v Bremerton one, by just ignoring the facts in order to get to the conclusion they wanted).

They've likely got a list of rulings they want to make, and are just rushing through it, taking whatever cases are available, in roughly the right ball-park (literally so, in Kennedy v Bremerton), to get through the list.

This is the legit terrifying case. It basically confirms all the stolen election conspiracy stuff (on the part of Pubs/Trump) and the fact that Republicans are absolutely off their rockers.

I always thought the US would go through some shit and come out the other side ok but this case legit scaresy fucking balls off because of the SC rules like we all think they will then basically secession and violence are the only tools left to enact popular change once red states lock down their BS election processes.
