Went to Apple Store today...

They wouldn't replace my iPhone 4 for free because it was out of warranty. Everyone around me said, "Oh, they'll probably replace it for free because they're Apple!"

Nope... Guy said, "It's $150 to replace it or $60 to replace the camera."

What was the problem? The LED light only works in the camera app when taking pictures. It won't work in movies or in any flashlight apps. Traditional restore and the other kind of restore both wouldn't fix it. Many of you may think that light is not important but it is if you don't have a flashlight on you at all times... I don't even own a flashlight. 🙁

Non mi piace.

srsly? The people who try to use that stupid LED as a replacement for a flashlight are ridiculous. A mini maglite costs like 15 bucks and serves 100x the purpose that those flashlight apps serve.

If you can afford an iPhone you can afford the maintenance, or is it just to look "cool" and you can't actually afford one?

Apple's profit margin is pretty high so maybe be a little more conscientious in who you buy from.

The best phone I ever owned was a Nokia stick phone that had a LED on top. You can keep the stupid camera. A flashlight is much more useful, and cheaper to implement. Phone lights work well enough for most uses, and I'm more likely to have it on me than I am a mini maglite. They're flashlights suck anyway. Once they get some age on them, they get finicky to operate(as do most flashlights).

write a letter to the CEO. post about it on the Consumerist. call your local newspaper agency. tell your mom. someone is bound to give a shit

Sounds like a software issue. Try reloading the OS or something.

And does it work in video mode? Just record video if you need light. That's what I do with my blackberry lol. That LED is insanely bright.

But for general around the house stuff I'd invest in a few cheap flashlights or even make your own.

Lol, you have retards for friends (but maybe that speaks for yourself). Why would Apple replace anything for free? People were getting pissed at them a long time ago for battery life misrepresentations. Apple wanted $100+ to replace it. Someone filed a lawsuit and Apple came back with a replacement program that cost you $59. Woo, now I only have to pay 25% of the original purchase cost instead of 50%!

Why do you think that nearly everything they make is non-user friendly in terms of replacements? Buy a damn flashlight and quit bitching

Guys... it's like the saying photographers have, "The best camera is one that's with you." It's like that with the flashlight... the best flashlight is the one that's with you. I don't want to haul a flashlight around everywhere when that fucking LED is insanely bright and would work for most of the purposes I'd have. I'm not trying to illuminate the god damn world.

WTF? Why do you need a flash light? Are you that blind?

I want to know too. I've never used my phone as a flashlight before. I don't carry one and haven't felt the need to. But if I did somehow acquire an urge to do so, I could easily get a maglite the fits in my watchpocket with my pocket knife.
