Went and test drove a Chevy Avalanche today.

THIS will be my next vehicle. NO BONES ABOUT IT.

OMG. I love this vehicle. It is HUGE. I hate SUV's and I want this vehicle. (that's ok, this is really a pickup :/ )

Ahhh the amazing ability of the human mind to justify any decision it it makes.

Such a good idea and such a freaking ugly execution. Why did they have to put all that plastic crap all over the damn thing. I'd much rather see the tidier lines of the regular trucks....guess they're trying to play up the whole "utilitarian" motif.

my co-worker just went out and got one... the others are laughing at him...
but i think this isn't too bad of a pickup/suv

i mean, why else would mercedes (er, or was it caddy?) put out a similar one?

don't know why this is the MT truck of the year...
then again, i know nothing about cars

That was kind of a thread crap on my behalf wasn't it? Apologies.😱

I dunno, I just like sleeker lines on my vehicles. Would be super-duper handy for me tho. I often have need to haul both people and stuff (I own a house so am constantly mooching neighbor's truck to haul lumber). I just can't get around how they look.

Caddy Truck = oxymoron?😕

🙂

pepsei

hahaha.

why laugh. it's a GREAT "man" type vehicle.

plus, i have 3 kids w/ 2 still in car seats. they fit just fine in the back seat. not many vehicles you can say that about. 🙂

I personally dont care for them, but I prefer just an regular SUV <dons flame suit>

I do like the monochrome treatment that Cadillac gave theirs, but I dislike the headlights of grill and the caddy model.

I really miss the point of taking the whole vehicle apart to carry longer items, why not just let it hang out the back and buy some rope for $5?

Wow, what a concept. ACTUALLY test drove a vehicle you are interested in and make your own decision instead of asking people who just read car magazines.

Good for you, you'll love it. PM if you have any questions re: Avalanche.

sluggo. i would never open the midgate. well, i would but not to carry stuff. think of the possibilities, i'm a parent so i think in terms of going to the beach, going camping, going on picnics, long trips.

this thing could be more "PRACTICAL" (except the 4 wheel drive part) than a minivan. 🙂

fastz

YOU GOT ONE. OMG, I'm soo happy for you.

I can't buy it till the fall cause my wife wants to buy a new house this summer. 🙁.

if not for the new house i'd go get one next month.

Its funny, MT berated the thing in their write up of it, saying the plastic pieces are poorly put together(Its true, i actually ripped i piece off the door of one at the NAIAS). Then they go ahead and give it truck of the year...

oh, i was the ONLY person who didn't laugh at him...

my other co-workers think he got the car to try to pick up chicks(they call him jason because he looks like that guy from american pie)...
they thought he should've buy a house instead of paying for the car outright....

ah... to be young and semi rich, he sky dives too.... (don't think you can pick up chicks that way..but again..he's being accused of)

How about when you need security and water-proof?

I looked at them a month or so ago. I liked them OK. I didn't need a full size truck anymore so I opted to trade my '97 F-150 in on a Sport Trac. If I was in the market for a full size truck then I would have considered the Avalanche right along side another F-150.

Dave

yup. i've always wanted an F-150. Most of my life i've been a REAL FORD DIEHARD.

this chevy tho, it looks more like a ford than the Fords do. 🙂

Thanks. 😀

It's not for everyone (which vehicle is?), but it's perfect for me, it does EVERYTHING I needed to do and I happen to like the styling.

You'll need this vehicle when you get that house.

<< Guyver

that's the exact color and model i test drove. THAT'S the one i'm gonna buy. 🙂
>>

good choice then. it's one of the few looks i like 😀

<< Avalanche 1500 4x4 in Onyx Black with available Z71 Off-Road Package >>

that's the same kind my uncle just got.... fully loaded with 4WD and Z-71... very nice, IMO.

Onyx black here, too. 😀

Oh, and it's not a big deal to convert. I can do it in about 20 seconds now, which is about the same time to go topless in most convertibles. Now, only if I get a dollar for each demos I've done....

hmmm

first i don't find the plastic ugly.

second. mb i should ask myself if all that sheet metal will "last" over time. my guess is . . . it won't.

and your point is??
