Except everyone would get A if you did that. There's the occasional prof that gives exams like that and averages in those classes usually end up being A- (occasionally B+) in a school that doesn't give A+s

Right. I'm not an asshat teacher. :D I remember well the asshats that gave tests so "out there" you couldn't hope to get more than a handful correct. :(

How soon can you get up here and kick out a few profs? :D

The dept bitches at these profs because the averages are too high. Sooner or later they toughen the class so that the average falls lower than B.

I needed about an 80% on it to maintain my cumulative 4.0 college GPA (its my sixth semester)

God, I really hope I pull through on it somehow.... I had badly wanted to graduate with a 4.0 in a couple more semesters :( All that work and for what? sigh... 3.9 isn't good enough (for busting my ass like I did all those times).

I WAS in the same situation (4.0/6th Semester) as you were. I never felt more relieved when I did get that B+. Keeping a 4.0 was way too stressful.

HA! So there are some advantages to being a B student :D ;)

Wow, you all seem to be physics, compsci, math majors (from reading this post and others). Am I the only poli sci person?

I submitted my 10 page mass comm. research paper yesterday. That was 50% of the final. The other 50% of the final was an actual 25 question test. I think the test went better than the paper! I expect a B in the class.

Tonight is my 2nd exam. I have to submit a 5 page paper on how to improve corporate America through the economic philospophy of worker control capitalism. The actual FINAL is that we have to give ourselves a grade for the semester (It's a philosophy class, after all!). Giving myself an A of course ;)

3rd Final tomorrow is a 24 question Public relations Exam. Still gotta study that bad boy, I expect a B.

4th and final exam is thursday. 40 questions in Marketing. I expect an A.

LordNoob: I'm a Public Relations major, marketing minor.

Don't jinx me man. Actually if I churn out a B+ in this class I will still maintain a 4.0 because they round it at my school. But, I'd rather not even go there... perhaps I'll need it in one of the next two semesters. Ulcers or not, I want my 4.0 when I finish. It is for myself (high school dropout).

I wish tomorrow, instead of my my three hour final in International Political Economy, I could just write down A+ and walk out. Instead, I had final papers for all my classes a few weeks ago and, in addition, am in my last week of finals exams.

You are very determined (which is really good), but don't kill yourself...I gave up my cumulative 4.0 in my first quarter :D

A hard exam with a curve is much better than what you're describing. With a hard exam, students that truly want to learn the material and are good at it have an opportunity to shine. With an easy exam, the good students can slack off and still get the same grade as dumber students. This proves nothing, however.

Proving yourself to your professors is a good way to get job and grad school recommendations. Therefore, hard exams are good...unless you're taking a course you don't care about in which case they're bad. I'm taking a physics course right now that is the Mr. Wizard show brought to the classroom and I have no problems with that.

ehehe my finals went okay. I purposely failed a class though because I don't want a C+/B-...it was an esay class but i focused on my other classea and didn't go/study. And somehow the professor markeed a ZERO on my final and now i'm happy. YEah i'll have an F on my transcript (or maybe D-/D or D+, who knows) but i already checked on the final poslicy and spoke to counselors and i can retake and it'll replace my grade and adjust my GPA...altho it'll say i failed.

But i don't care XD fail the class baby to save that GPA! I'll retake it spring and get my A and be happy~~

Tho i'm mad at my engineering final. I was on the border for B+/A- (he is giving out 5 As in a class of 100 =_=) and I owned my midterm where the curve was really low (60) wher ei got a 85 so that helped...its my stupid "group" project that screwed me over. But aside from that I knew the material and was excpting for the A- but he gives us a SAMPLE a few days before the REAL final...and the real final was nearly verbatim the sample!!!! I'm screwed now >< >< >< >< >< because no matter how well i do i know everyone in that class studided the sample to hell and now the average is probably up there in the 80s or 90s so the spread won't favor me and i get a B+....damn

dude... i was in the same situation last thursday... i didnt even study for this final... i just went in cold turkey...

i took the final... all i knew how to do was the 10 pts worth of multiple choice the rest i just made up stuff and bsed... on parrallel algorithms, search times, anti, flow dependencies... it just plain sucked... i mean this was possibly the hardest test i have ever taken... it was for the intro to supercomputing class @ osu.l

but... i just got my final grade today... b-, :).

Well, I'm pretty sure my entire class got raped on a Mechanics test tonight. I don't think I did too bad though, so hopefully I'm near the top of the curve. I have to say though, I walked into my film and television exam (fine arts elective), found out that hey, the final is two written essays and six short answers, not the multiple choice that the midterm was, and it still was cake. I had more difficult classes in high school. If that class is indicitive of most non-technical majors, damn they have it easy.

I've done well so far. GR tomorrow will be a rape-job though.

My E&M last year was NOT fun. Apparently this year two people left slamming doors after 15 minutes.

I've seen people cry. It's DAMN hard to write an exam in a large lecture hall where the only sound you can hear are the soft sobs of a defeated student.
