lol

E46 is probably the best looking of the 3 series until they got bangled. now they just look like civic or some other jap car

though i have seen a 335i today stuck at teesside park, and i like what they've done with it, front looks good and it looks nice and long like a proper coupe... i could take or leave the rea r quaters tho, but they're by no means bad. definately better than the 4 door.

M3 CSL FTW tho....induction noise!

Needs poll:

1 - you should buy that sweet 335

2 - you should just bite the bullet and buy the M3

I pick option 2 - performance, bragging rights, resale value...

And I must also thank my credit union for the awesome rate ;)

I suppose some people do not have anything better to do with the money they borrow.

Seriously though ... $55K for a 3 series coupe? My dad got a 3-series convertible 2½ years ago and with licensing/tax/options, it probably hit something like $46K

Funk that, might as well just get the upcoming V8-powered M3

Why compare a base car to a fully loaded one (especially BMW?) IIRC the difference in a similiarly loaded 330 and 335 is around $3k.

A $20k spread with options for a 3er with the same engine is downright INSANE. Like I said, e92 M3 FTW[/quote]

Someone on the TCL would be mad at you right now for that comment. :p

No it starts off at $51k CDN (for the coupe) and runs to just over $65k I believe. Out the door it is mid 70s after taxes.

Still $20k cheaper than a Cayman.

BOOO!!! No Manual Transmission in a car like that? A bmw with an auto transmission is a crime.

Bwahaha!! Buying a new, fifty-five THOUSAND dollar vehicle on credit. You do realize you'll be driving this car on the road and parking it next to cars that cost $2000 to $10000 dollars don't you? What type of people do you think they are?

Buy used. Put down as much cash as you possibly can. If you don't have much now, then save, save, save.

Buying a brand new BMW is just financial suicide. Go look at 1 year old same model cars, and see how damn much they depreciate!

The Hot deal is, never buy a high line Euro import brand new.

it's a nice car, but like NFS4 suggested, for $55k you could have gotten a better performing car. Not sure if you're looking for amenities or performance though.

You're the one who has to drive it and make the payments...buy what YOU want...screw all the naysayers...If you like it, and can afford it, BUY IT!

If you're actually buying it for driving pleasure, and not just the name and presteige, then I'd highly recommend getting a manual over the shitronic. I've driven my bro's 325ci with steptronic several times. It's one of the most painful gearboxes to drive with ever. It just doesn't fvcking shift when you tell it to. It's not like DSG or those ferrari's where it shifts exactly when you tell it to. It's very screwy. Sometimes it shifts, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it does it for you, and if it does shift when you tell it to, it's always delayed. It's just so annoying to use you'll just use it in automatic drive mode all the time.
Do yourself a favor and get a manual, unless of course, you are just in it for the name and presteige.

Going to get the full service spa including the Sports Package, Steptronic Automatic Transmission, Paddle Shifters, Active Steering, Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, Comfort Access, Active Cruise Control, On-Board Navigation System, Power Rear Sunshade, Satellite Radio and Park Distance Control (rear).

Nice but I'm a purest.

I would do a 335 without...

Automatic Tranny
Active Steering (Maybe)
Comfort Access
Active Cruise Control
On-Board NAV (no iDrive)
Park Distance Control

agreed...

There is way more room to grow on the new 335 platform than the e46 M3. The performance is about the same stock, but the e46 M3 is already tuned to the limit.
Other than the M3 moniker, the e46 M3 has nothing better to offer in terms of performance or features.

And the Caymen (non-turbo) is A LOT SLOWER than a 335, 0-60 time is 6.0 compared to 4.8.

New e92 M3 in silver:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13257

The e46 M3 starts at $48,900. Optioned with Premium Package, GPS, Bi-Xenons, Power Rear Sunshade and Park Distance Control, it costs $54,090.

I'd take a gander and say roughly $57k - 58k for the e92 M3. To spend THAT much money on the 335i when you could have an M3 just seems...ludicrous.
