Well, I just got my car back and it cost my parents 478 dollars for to replace it. My car seems a little faster for some reason, but I am also owe my parents 478 dollars now.
Yeah, as soon as those car mechanics get their hands on your car, prepare to pay. My Toyota Camry driver-side automatic window failed, and the cost was $300 to fix. I still haven't had the money to replace the cracked front-shield glass.

You think just a distributor itself is inexpensive? Let alone the labor cost would involved. By the way, it's definitely not hard to replace a distributor on the Altima.
Buy yourself an automotive guide/manual for an Altima and do it yourself - the $40 you spend on the book more than pays for itself in the labor costs you avoid
At today's prices, $400 isn't very much. And putting aside for the moment that most Hondas and Toyotas are made in the USA, you'll be disappointed if you expect repairs on Detroit finest to be much lower.

Bought a distributor for my Bronco from Autozone for less than $50. Put it in myself in 20 minutes.
