WarCon - This isn't just a mail server, it's a qmail powered mail server!

kami - What I am afraid of is that it wasn't hard to refuse... Let me look at my Natalie Portman wallpaper to see if I am still a straight male.... Hell yeah!!! mmmm Natalie mmmm

THANK GOD YOU SAID NO!

See now, there were benefits to going to college in the 80s! There were no computer to preoccupy us when there was a booty call!

I mean, what kind of excuse could we use? I was too busy polishing the #10 pitch ball on my IBM selectric typewriter?

I am on shaw cable... I get 60KB/s up pretty much 24/7. I also do about 30Gigs upload and have not receive a call! If it gets too bogged down I will probably move it to work if my boss lets me; there I got an OC-3 🙂

While I'm not against the occasional booty call, this chick's not my type. Besides, she looks.. chubby. (hard to tell, though)

I was thinking the same thing! Also not my type. I'd also pass her up for a mail server. Good job Mucman!

I see three people on my webmail... anyone want to comment? I am sure it is slow for you because you are operating on HD swap space 🙁

Yup!

Actually, after seeing her pic, I wouldnt have either. But when you said she was hot... Then I would have.

LOL, I guess hot isn't the right word... it just gets your attentions 🙂. I would say she is not ugly; I would put her in the attractive area... albeit describing someones looks with a word is pretty tough... especially for guys who have 50 odd euphanisms for their unit 😉

Ok, so finish up the 15 minute install of QMail, Courier IMAPd, and maybe Apache+PHP (these should all be in your ports), and move on. SquirrelMail is a joke to configure, and could probably be setup WHILE having sex.

Mucman,

Don't let em get you down with their teasing around here, given a choice between a
"blend of qmail,courier-imap,apache" and fooling around with 99.9% of the dudes here ? hahaha
the Mail server would win with me too !! 🙂

Btw, how much of a biatch is Apache to install and get configured ?

FreeBSD installation of Apache: select Apache and Comanche from list, click the Install button, start Comanche to select the default directory, and you're done.

As you can see it's pretty hard for Microsoft users.

FreeBSD != Linux 😉
And as you didn't ask how hard it would be to install FreeBSD, I presumed you weren't a Microsoft-only user anyway 🙂

Don't know anything about Freebsd except for a few rumblings I've heard from a friend or two but figure that just about any OS is reasonably easy to install.. lol, it's the configuring and maintance that can be the PITA,imho anyway 🙂 Oh and I'm very much a pro MS kind of gal, Bill and his software has helped put plenty of food on the table here, I don't think of MS OS's as "buggy" ,no those are earning opportunties 😀

Both the installation and maintenance of FreeBSD is quite easy. Only thing that is lacking tends to be hardware support for the latest hardware, but that is getting better too. Configuring the different applications is done by means of configuration scripts, which are usually reasonably clear, and are very well documented on the FreeBSD site. What you can do is to select FTP as source for the OS and packages during installation, then it will retrieve the latest versions from the Internet automatically, instead of having to search for each package yourself.

Edit: Linky to FreeBSD search page here.
