I have been alone in my office area for a long time, until today. Like, no one within 3 walls and 100 feet alone. Someone is moving into the office next to me.
She is about 6 foot tall, around 20 years old, and looks like this actress, just younger.

Jaime Pressly

Just a glammed up version, not the TPT version.

Anyways I thought I would just rub it in the collective noses of ATOT.
I know you all have pretty officemates and supermodel gfs and whatever, so I am wasting my time.

I hope they don't move anyone else over here. I liked the peace and quiet.

become straight, hit it, then post pics

you know.. i read a blog once about a guy who did that just because he hadn't yet. he did not enjoy it.

shush you, let him find out the hard way

I'm sure he's messed with a woman before.

I am not joking. She moved something a few hundred feet down the hall to this office, 2 union people happened to see her, and they marched right down to HR.

wow, you work at a hellhole

Heh, if this keeps up you will be alone again.

But, wait, you already knew that didn't you? She was making too much noise during the move so you turned her in. You jerk!

she's worked the hick out of her pretty successfully, and only uses it when she plays one on TV. But believe me...the accent indigenous to her NC hometown is anything but sweet ;)

sometimes it's well-deserved--as in this situation.

Personal example: If we need to move lab equipment or make any modifications to our space, we are forced to hire campus union workers that take 2x as long, do horrible, horrible work, and cost about 3x as much.

So, we need to move an air-flow hood from one space to another. 4 or so different union guys have to be called in to perform various services at different times. One to lift the hood, one to unhook the plumbing, an electrical guy, and then the movers. Of course, this can be done in about 10 minutes time, but we have to go through Union workers that take a week or so to "fit it in their schedule"

no-bid contracts ftl. and yeah...if they see you doing anything non-union, they put you in a shit storm.

well... this is a situation that warrants it.

Have you read their union contract? If not, how can you comment? It is a legally binding contract, plain and simple. I am not a fan of unions in general, but it amazes me how little people know about them, but bash them constantly.

I doubt it says anywhere in the contract that they're allowed to pick on super-hot chicks. Instead of whining like little girls they should have finished their coffee break and given her a hand (since Zysoclaplem isn't gentleman enough to :p ).

we don't know the whole story though. from what the OP posted it sounds like a couple workers are hardcore union idiots. every union has them. i mean, who the hell files a grievance on some new employee moving furniture? get a life.

So you have read the contract then? Since *this situation* warrants it. Or, do you really have no idea what the contract says, or what the specific grievance was, or do you believe that contracts signed by BOTH parties involved have no legal merit? Like I said, I am not a big fan of unions, but at least argue the actual facts. It may seem like a trivial point, and it may even be, but to flat out bash "the union" is kinda silly, no?

And for the record, I said "people" bash them constantly. I never singled you out, and if you re-read my post, I don't think it even sounds directed at you. The first two questions were aimed at you, and the rest is observational comments on my part. I do apologize if it does sound like I meant "people" as you specifically.
