awesome! I'm interested in one(hopefully the same batch as well!) How much do you sell a 1@1.2 Tbird usually for?

That's what I thought, but compared side by side, one I had the other day was definitely green...to my eyes anyway.

ouch.. I killed a 800 Mhz tbird a couple months ago by putting my chrome orb on backwards so I feel your pain...

Or well by taking it off after I put it on backwards :p

I just got a tbird retail and it 1250mhz via multipliers and i just tried out fsb today, 110 gave errors tried 105 and its been fine thus far. its at 1.775 volts though and the temp doesn't go above 40 in the msi mb bios after its been on all day. Im using the stock heatsink and the fan from this kit http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/1/113.htm?229 using arctic silver. So if my temps are right and yours are right your rig obviously was putting out some heat. Also when I overclocked the fsb I didn't try the voltage above 1.8 volts cause I was just doing it to screw around I don't want to overclock the fsb.

anyways that leads me to wonder what are no no temps for these tbirds? Am I in range? I did notice that at 1250mhz my temps were a little lower at 36, so the increase in clock speed brought more heat?

In the interest of truth in advertising you might want to change your sobriquet from COMPUWHIZ 1 to COMPUKLUTZ 1. Of course I may have to take that name first since I killed my first Duron when installing one of the early golden ords.

Oh rough.
A nice oc @ 1350 is a SLICK oc.
Too bad that little bump toasted it for ya.

Bought a retail 1GHz Athlon a few weeks ago, and fried it one the first boot... Then contacted that nice AMD tech support, and got a brand new one, no cost, by air mail, 2 days after they got my old dead one.

They returned me a OEM part, since they where B/O on retail ones, but who cares ! It's still a 1GHz Athlon. BTW, I'm using the stansard stock fan with it (seems to be a coolmaster), and it runs at about 42C doing nothing, and 46 after a few hours playing games. It's on a K7T Pro-2A. Is it normal, or will it burn too ?

BTW, I hope you will be able to get a replacement part. They seemed nice enough, so you might one without much trouble... And it was not completely free, since a had to pay about 20,00$ CANADIAN for the LD call... Damn expensive...

I would say the HS was not on properly. I was just checking out my new Taisol on the Duron 600 @900 and left it on without the fan to cook the thermal pad - ran for 10 minutes and got to 55C. Are U sure you really killed it??
Anyway pulled off the Taisol since not too impressed with the temps (see below) and tried the FOP38 with Arctic silver and man oh man what a difference. Results
Chrome orb 39/50 w arctic silver
Taisol 742xxx 37/46 or somewhere around there w thermal pad
Fop38 35/42 w arctic silver- big difference. WHo cares about the noise (its under my desk anyways).

Yes, I'm absolutely positive it's dead.

The problem is, the Alpha had feet on it and they contacted the ones on the TBird. This I was not aware of until too late. I was working tired and not thinking real sharp, or I normally would have caught something like that and being in the hurry I was, oh well.

Replacement will never fly, especially since the cpu was modded with Loctite. I'm not even gonna ask, as it would be dishonest.

A friend of mine had a Duron 600 unlocked by a PCB repairer(using conductive paint) prior to 1st using it ,shortly after 1st trying it out he found the cpu was faulty!:Q.No it hadn't been fried (I think it would crash in Q3 even at 600 MHz).He got the paint removed & then got it replaced :)

refreshing to see some integrity in this world for a change

my condolences on your cpu, maybe we can hope that it's in a better world
