Weird stuff going down in Germany

pmv

Sounds like their version of Jan 6th

Really weird. On second-thoughts, it sounds perhaps more like the infamous 1970s "coup" plot here, involving Lord Mountbatten (that never got further than one infamous meeting, I think).

It's good to see a country call a terrorist a terrorist and who takes their threats seriously.

In order to communicate with each other, they acquired Iridium satellite telephones valued at €20,000 that would have worked even if the electricity network had collapsed – which was, apparently, also part of the plan, in order to spread chaos.
The part I bolded sounds very familiar.

Seems Qanon stuff came into it as well, plus inspiration from Jan 6th.

(the "Reichburger" thing sounds like a German equivalent of that weird "Sovereign citizen" stuff).

Can't work out how serious this "plot" was, or if it was just crackpots being crackpots.

The group was apparently driven in ideology by the deep-state conspiracy theories of QAnon and the Reichsbürger (“empire citizens”) movement, which denies the right of modern Germany to exist. It was planning to renegotiate the country’s post-second world war settlement, insisting the “Deutsche Reich” still had legitimacy despite having ended with the Nazis’ defeat in 1945.

Investigators say they quickly established strong ideological links between the members, who included Reichsbürger, as well as members of the coronavirus denial Querdenker movement and supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory.

The group, under the leadership of Heinrich XIII and a former commander of a paratrooper battalion, had been preparing for so-called “Day X”, on which about two dozen people were to storm the Reichstag building, home to the German parliament, and to handcuff and arrest MPs and parliamentary staff in an operation taking as its example the 2021 attack on the US Capitol.

After their takeover, the group had envisioned renegotiating the treaties Germany signed after the end of the second world war. “For now, the Russian Federation was exclusively to be the central contact for these negotiations,” prosecutors said.

I always wonder what extremists think is going to happen with plans like this. Let's say they successfully stormed the Reichstag and captured MPs, what was the government going to do? "Right, sorry, guess it's an absolute monarchy now. We're not at all going to send in the military or police."

Then again, someone who's ignorant enough to fall for conspiracy theories like this also isn't the sort to think through the consequences of their actions. Like the January 6th attackers who genuinely thought they could overturn the election if they held Congress hostage.

The Beer Hall Putsch failed at its intended goal.

Baby steps.

I think they have echo chamber ideas about what the public really thinks. They expect everyone to just fall in line because "real Germans" are sick of the libtard blah blah blah.

Extremist conspiracy theory types generally confuse recognizing that a problem exists as also having a solution for said problem. Asking them for their solution to a problem invariably triggers a response that you can't even see the problem. These are the people who say "something must be done!" without ever saying that something should be. And if they actually do 'something,' why should there be consequences? It needed to be done.
These aren't ignorant people, they're just average people who want to believe they're something special. And as such, highly suspectible to the devious machinations of ambitious con artists.

Maybe one day people will officially recognize BLM, antifa, and their supporters in the months long riots, violence, and attacks against government officials and entities.

Of course you know that none of those groups rioted or attacked any government offices or people, right? All of the violence in those protests was attributed to MAGA fascists, just like yourself.

This is a matter of public record. You can actually look at the arrests and prosecutions for yourself, so that you know that these were violent rightwing Trump supporters exactly like you.

I wonder why you persist in believing things that are demonstrably untrue, especially in the face of overwhelming, easily-accessible evidence. Were you born this useless and stupid, or did it take a lifetime of careful, studied practice?

You referring to the accelerationists?
"The accelerationists, if you have never heard the term, are an extreme subset of white
nationalism whose goal is to bring about chaos and destruction. The basic tenet of
accelerationism argues that since Western governments are inherently corrupt, the best
(and only) thing supremacists can do is to accelerate the end of society by sowing chaos
and aggravating political tensions. “Accelerationist ideas have been cited in mass shooters’
manifestos — explicitly, in the case of the New Zealand killer — and are frequently
referenced in white supremacist web forums and chat rooms,” Zack Beauchamp explained"

Or are you referring to the cop killers?:

Or the fires in Minneapolis?

Because I am not seeing left wing violence here. Just republicans attacking law enforcement because republicans hate police officers.

And don't forget....all that "Antifa Antifa Antifa terrorist group" stuff was made up by Homeland Security chief Chad Wolf to politically help out his boss, Trump.

Homeland Security Admits It Tried to Manufacture Fake Terrorists for Trump (yahoo.com)

The report describes attempts by top officials to link protesters to an imaginary terrorist plot in an apparent effort to boost Trump’s reelection odds, raising concerns now about the ability of a sitting president to co-opt billions of dollars’ worth of domestic intelligence assets for their own political gain. DHS analysts recounted orders to generate evidence of financial ties between protesters in custody; an effort that, had they not failed, would have seemingly served to legitimize President Trump’s false claims about “Antifa,” an “organization” that even his most loyal intelligence officers failed to drum up proof ever existed.

Senior Homeland Security leaders pushed unfounded antifa conspiracy at 2020 Portland protests, report states - OPB

On the same day a violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, the Department of Homeland Security received a damning internal report about its intelligence operations targeting racial justice protesters in Portland last summer.

It outlines how senior leadership pushed unfounded conspiracies about antifascists, encouraged staff to violate constitutional rights, and made spurious connections between protesters who engaged in criminal activity.

Hats off to Germany.... They know their traitors when they see them, unlike over here in the good ole US of A.
Maybe its because Germany suffered through Adolf Hitler. Maybe Germany has been there... done that....

And so I guess that we here in America will just have to suffer through own version of Adolf Hitler i.e. Donald Trump, before we come up to speed and treat our Donald Trump's as Germany treats her Donald Trump's. Ya think????
