This year my dad came home with a present a coworker gave him, and he was too polite to ask what it was, anyone have any ideas? My vote goes for a bookmark.

yes it's a bookmark.

Probably made from "pewter" and therefore "nice". Seriously, never understood how making something out of pewter suddenly makes it more valuable than stainless steel.

Well pewter is usually a majority of tin, around 90%, and it's the 4th most precious metal after platinum, gold and silver.

What is it? It's your dad's, that's what it is!

Now leave it the fuck alone before you break it...again..

HEY!! you kids...GTF off my lawn!

Pure tin, yes. Common useage for tin requires only thin plating, so you normally don't think of tin as being valuable.

EDIT: I don't know if tin is technically precious, but it is relatively rare.
