5'8" ~152 lbs

Deadlift: 225
Bench: 135
Squat: 225

My bench is just horrible. While I gained in almost everything else, bench rarely improves..

Back when I was into power lifting I could put up 410 benching, was leg pressing 950 @ 3 sets of 10 and was dead lifting around 400. Ah, those were the days!

Currently, I'm at (421,251,501) (S,B,D).
I'm always pleased with a new PR. Adding a 25 or 45 to each side or crossing a new 100lb threshold always feels particularly good. Long term, I'll be really happy when I can hit "Elite" in whatever weight class I find myself in (based on this).

Well it's the truth!

5'10
Squat: 180KG ATG
Bench: 112Kg : Paused
DeadLift 170Kg @ 85kg at a DeadLift comp :p

Now for actual weightlifting
Snatch: 115Kg : Comp
C&J: 140Kg : Comp
Bw 84.25Kg

DL is pants as well as my low BP but I don't practice them.

My strongman competitive mate is a BEAST.

Squat: 300Kg (660lbs) PL comp
Bench Press: 210Kg (462lbs raw) PL Comp | 230Kg (506lbs suited)
DeadLift : 330Kg (726lbs comp)

6'2 @ 119Kg bw and still does 10 proper pull ups!

That just seems odd to me...you could bench 410 but could only dead 400...you have real short arms?

Nice lifts though!

Boo...after about 3 months I haven't been able to break like 180 on bench. I want to at least get up to my body weight (230 or so)

Yes, but are you improving? Heavy singles seem to have helped me out quite a bit to progress. Its less of a shock on the CNS when I pick up heavy shit.

Improving? I improved a bit, to 180, which is the most I've ever been able to do. But I've seemed to plateau there.

I usually do a warmup set, then 3 sets of 5-6 reps (although lately I've been failing in the last set or so, only 2-3 reps)

I've had to take two weeks off since I sliced my finger. Hope to get back soon.

Try increasing your weight a little and doing like 8 sets of 3 reps. Toss in an occasional day with 5-6 single lifts with 90-95% of your 1RM.

Grats TB :)

Just keep switching it up Ucla. Try incline / decline bench, try dips & flyes, try lowering the weight and doing more reps, or raising the weight and doing fewer reps. Also try doing slower reps and increasing the amount of total time your muscles spend under tension. Keep your body guessing.

Anyway, for those of you doing deads - do you use straps? Now that I'm getting back into shape and moving more weight again, I find that back day absolutely mangles my hands. They sting for a day afterwards and I occasionally get blisters. Originally I wanted to tough it out, only a girly man uses straps, blah blah macho blah blah... but now I find my grip is really holding me back on the number of reps I can pump out, therefore my back's growth.

Picked up 455 last week, no straps. The main reason not to use them all the time is to build up grip strenth. I use them only when I need them, which is less and less over time. My hands are a mangled mess though.
