Lavagirl has sent me a PM before asking if I was one of the photographers that had photographed her in the past... while I am not one of the photographers that has photographed her, I do live on the same island as her, and as such, I feel it is my duty to the men of ATOT to take on this mantle of responsbility and take photographs!

calories intaken > calories used = big butt g/f
calories intaken < calories used = skinny g/f

There is no secret.

The only diet that I know that works long term is the "Eat 5-6 times a day" diet. You need to figure out how many calories she burns a day (BMR) and then take ~400 calories a day off of that total, and divide it up between 5-6 meals a day. Drinking water alone will cause most people to lose weight over a length of time. 3000 Calories = 1lb of Fat.

If she burns 2000 calories a day (BMR), and she wants to lose 20lbs, if she has a 500 calorie a day deficit, it will take her 5 months to lose it. Add in exercise at least 3 days a week and her deficit becomes greater, meaning she can lose it in 3-4 months. Become a fanatic and religiously weigh foods, eat perfectly and exercise daily and it can be done in 2 months.

Good luck!

Fill 32 oz naglene bottle with water and drink before every meal.
Drink green tea during the day instead of sugar w/ coffee.
Dont use salad dressing.

- I like the drink lots of water idea -- I guess it just makes you feel fuller right? but would that backfire because it keeps you stomach stretched out, thereby giving you a large appetite?

- she works out a ton, and it has built up her muscles a little, but she still weighs the same

umm burn more claories than you consume. THAT IS IT. there is no magic trick to it. If she likes to eat shes gonna need to bust her tail.

Having had this conversation with other girls, it essentially boils down to ... eat soluble fiber in the morning, do 30 minutes minimum of aerobics daily. Considering I'm not a girl, I can offer little beyond that she should try jump rope....girls jumping up and down repeatedly = teh win for everyone.

hahah there was this girl at the gym jumping rope the other day...it was mezmerizing. I DEFY you not to look, or stare, or drool. oh wow.

Then she has lost "weight". Muscle is twice as dense as fat.

Whatever you do, don't let her go on those starvation diets. They end up causing weight gain.

When working out and eating properly, sometimes it is not about the number on the scale but the person in the mirror. Gaining muscle and losing body fat can result in the same number or sometimes even a larger number on the scale but inches are coming off and you can only measure those with calipers and such. tell her to keep it up. My wife and I are doing it now and keep encouraging each other and people are noticing.

Increase water consumption and decrease the portions of meals. This goes hand in hand... I find that drinking maybe an extra sip of water during meals and eating smaller meals still makes me feel full.

The only way to lose weight is to eat less. Thats the cold, hard reality. No matter how much you exercise, no matter how many diet pills you take, you won't lose weight unless you significantly cut back your portions. Eat less of everything.

Instead of drinking a sugar drink, drink water. Instead of drinking coke, drink water. Cutting back intake of high fat and sugered drinks is a major achievement.

That should be a start.

That's not always true... if you stop eating so much, or you only eat one meal per day... your metabolism (spelling) will slow down, because your body is going into starvation mode. it does not know when the next meal is coming, so it has to hold onto what it has to be able to last for you...

Exercising burns calories, which burns fat and makes you lose weight...

Agreed. Exercising and eating a normal diet is always preferable to eating little and not exercising.

1) start drinking 8 glasses of water a day
2) implement an official snacktime/meal between major meals
3) more cardio
4) cut out empty calories/ empty carbs -white flour/sugar etc

since she is eating 5 times a day and constantly drinking water she will not be hungry for impulse eating.

if possible, replace all the bad things in her house/apt with healthy items. lots of fresh veggies, etc. do active things together. give her encouragement too. You can still go to fast food places, like McD's but change what you eat. Its actually a bit more healthy to eat a grilled chicken sandwich w/o mayo, a med fries, side salad and diet coke than quite a few things at subway...

wish i could help more. i hope you are doing this more for her benefit though.

The first thing you should do is address the reason why she is impulse eating like that. She sounds like she's medicating herself with food to get the endorphin rush from the blood sugar rise. If you don't get this addressed she will surely be a heck of a lot bigger 10 years from now.

Eat 2/3 for say lunch and dinner. Eat more fruits and drink more water.

Your body will get use to it. If not you will have to get use to it.

Get rid of all the 'bad things' from your diet (sweets, sodas, beer, deserts)

Koing

Try doing circuit training together, and encourage her to have oatmeal based breakfast, as well as cutting down on snacking if possible.

Tell her to count calories. Set for a calorie amount, like 1200 or 1500/day, and then once a week she can binge, starting around maybe 5:00 that night.
